Since I’ve had 3 extra DSP75 servos and a servo programmer for a while, I decided to switch out the swash plate servos last night. I just finished working on my foamie, which I also setup on my DX6i, and switched back to the B400. Then I disconnected the motor on the B400 and plugged in the battery. Low and behold nothing was working correctly. I looked down at the window in the TX and it still said BLADE 400; however, there was a picture of a plane and the model had been reset.

I was looking at the menus and reset/copy is pretty hard to get to, but I guess I accidentally found a short cut. I’ve had the scroller hang up on me several times and do some unwanted things. This was a first though. So, what should have been a 1 hour job, ended up taking 3 hours. Aarrgghh!

Reset/Copy is not the only way to lose all settings....

- If you switch your model type from heli->plane->heli, settings are reset.

- If you switch the swash-plate type on a heli from 90deg to 120deg for example, settings are gone.

There may be more....
This is not necessarily only with the DX6i. The DX7 and other radios do this as well. Just something to watch out for.

My TX did something weird again today. This time, without hitting a button, the TX reset the model. Fortunately, I was not in the air at the time. That's a few too many weird things for me. Time to call Horizon and see what they will do.

I was thinking about getting a JR9303, but the more I think about that, it's overkill. Maybe a DX7 w/ S285 servos instead. When I get the DX6i back - I'll sell it.

I got the DX7 and setup the heli with it last night. (More on that later) I'm going to write or call Horizon today and list all the things my DX6i has done since purchase. Honestly, I'm lucky I haven't had a crash because of it.

DX7 setup was pretty straight forward. I had to change the pitch from + to - in the CCPM mixing, other than that, the numbers stayed the same. I took the head off and checked the swash with the Trueblood tool and all is good. (FWIW, that is a great setup tool. Perfect trim and punch-outs, positive and negative, and dead on) The only thing that got interesting was setting up the switches for gyro gain and throttle hold.

Obviously, there's a lot you can do with this radio compared to the DX6i. I just wanted to transfer my program and establish a baseline. Well sort of, I changed the TR servo to a 3400 while I was at it, so I get to setup the tail again.

Has anyone spoken with Horizon about this, if so what did they say? since I only have one bird on the radio, I dont have that problem but when I get home I have a plank waiting on me and I was planing to put it on the DX6i. If horizon decides to do something about it someone should post it. I have a 16 hour time difference so I cant call.

I sent an email to product support listing all the issues I've had with the system. I will post here what they decide to do. I'm hoping for a swapout. I think that's the least they should do.
