Nice idea but I was hoping I would just click on a location and be a link to the club. It would also be helpful to type in your zip code and give you the closest clubs to you. I was looking at the one hear me name fly away rc club but I couldnt' figure it out how to access it. Am I doing something wrong?

Hi Merlin and thanks for the response.
I am not perfectly sure that I understand all your requests, but here goes some of the solutions you can find on the map site.
Click a direct link for a club, as I understand it you would like to have a link to a club, and you can do that.
If you would like to create a direct link to your local club, you just have to notice the PinID on the pushpin of the club, and add the pinid at the end of this url http://wmap.rcheli.dk/?mypinid= like this http://wmap.rcheli.dk/?mypinid=79 and you can do it to your personal pin as well, as you can see in my signatur.
Now to the search function to find clubs near you.
That’s a good idea and I think I can add a function where you can search for your country, city and street fairly easy, but my only concern is that the map site is going to be too complex to use, it’s seems like the map site is already fairly complex for users !!! what’s your experience ?
And I am sorry but I don’t get your last concern “I was looking at the one hear me name fly away rc club but I couldn’t' figure it out how to access it. Am I doing something wrong?” ??
Hope that helped a bit.

Sorry, I meant "near" and not "hear". What I meant was that I was trying to get more info directly from the post to the club name "fly away rc" and I couldn't really figure it out right from that page. I guess I was thinking like step 1= open page, step 2 = enter city or zip code" to find clubs near me, step 3= get quick access to the hits with a click on the name. This last click could either take me or open a window with more info about the club or the actual website for the club, if exists to get the contact name and stuff like that.
I know this must be difficult but I thought I would pitch in with the idea. Also, sorry for not replaying earlier. I need to figure out how to track my messages so I can read/reply quicker. I'm sure the feature is here but I haven't use it yet.

Almost forgot, about my experince, I'm really new... so new that I haven't even try to hover yet  . I was trying to find out what clubs are near me so go watch them for a few times to make a decision about joining them or not. I'm definatelly, not ready to join a club until at least I can hover efectively.
FYI, I live in Alexandria, VA.

Hi merlin703 and welcome to this fine hobby. You do have a simulator right ?
Thanks for replaying
Well back to the map site, that’s a very good idea you have there, and most of it is already available :) here is goes.
Step 1. And 2. : You do have to navigate the map to get to you location, I think that’s easier then getting a postal code and finding you location. If you use the scroll wheel on your mouse and navigate to you location, you can do I very fast :). BUT if you already are registered on the map with you personal pin, you can zoom in to your location with a direct link like this http://map.rcheli.dk/?mypinid=35
Step 3. The last part about the information about the club, well it’s very difficult for me to find homepage for 2000+ flying field all over the world, and link them to the correct push-pin, some of the pins do have a link to their homepages, but that’s only if the pins is registered by a person from the club, but as you can see here it is possible http://map.rcheli.dk/?mypinid=79 there is a link in the text, and if you click the envelope you can write an email to the clubs email :) like you can write to fellow pilots.
I don’t know if your already registered on the site, but if you are, there is a very need function that I think you will find useful, getting driving directions for the clubs near you, you just have to remember you personal pin-Id, and write that in the textbox at the flying field(picture 1) you would like to go to, then you can get something like this (picture 2) now tell me is that useful for you or what ?

you can find some more infomations here http://rcheli.dk/pilotlocator.htm
Hope that help a bit and I wish you the best of luck with your flying.
