It looks very nice. Is this the g10 frame? I ordered the silver CF yesterday. What batteries are you flying? Whats the total weight of your bird?

have not weighed it yet but i am running 6s 2500mah flightpower evo's. and 7s A123, and also 8s A123, 8s is very tight and kind of tough to get the canopy off, but I am going to rebuild my A123 packs into flat packs, which will balance even better! this frame design feels lighter in the air, and much better balanced then the stock plastic frame! I believe you will have no problems getting about perfect balance with any 6s lipo pack up to 4000mah and 7-8 a123, 10s maybe

Do you run 2x3S Flightpower Evo or as one pack? I have heared its needed to put some washer into the frame to fit the 8S A123.

I am using 2 3s 2500 packs, plenty of room, and yes on the A123 packs you need to widen the frame. I just used the aluminum spacers used for the Trex 450 blade grips, they are a perfect fit, or you could also use the main grip bearings from the trex 450 which are a tad thicker but would also work very well to widen it.

Hi
I have received my brand new Carbon frame yesterday after two weeks of wait. It’s very nice I really like the detail and finish of it. It was well worth the wait
Last night I ve stay up, building it, until very late as you could understand I couldn’t wait. I have finish the assembly and when installing the shaft and gears I ve notice that spinning the main shaft has very hard!!!!
After a close inspection I found out that when spinning the shaft a cracking noise starts as like all the gears (Autorotation gear, secondary and pulley gear) are to close together and when spinning they make this noise with each other.
Does anyone come across this ….Can you help??? I have followed closely the internet instructions and I think I have built this as close as possible….
Is there any way I can install the metal bearing housings a few millimeters away from each other in order to free them a bit and move more freely

I had this same problem, you need to slide the rear gear bearing blocks back (tail shaft drive)
I just drilled the 8 holes out the next size bigger, 4 on each side of the frame, this gave me enough room to slide it back, or if you have a very small file you can ream the holes oblong so you can slide it back. I choose the next size larger route since I had no file and I thought it would be easiest to get it square. just don't go to large. it oly need to move back less then 1mm to get the proper gear mesh.

Hi concept1
Thanks for your reply ..... I was a bit skeptic on how to make the rear gear bearing blocks back but didnt know how much.
Can you post a photo to see who you did yours if not to much of a trouble.
Thanks again for giving me some confidence to drill my spanking new CF frame.....

you would not see anything noticable in a pic, I just removed the 4 bolts on each side and slid the assembly back 1/4 inch so my drill would not hit the blocks, and it might have been a 1/8 bit but I never acctually looked at it, the bit was just a bit larger then the current hole. I drilled all 8 holes and the put the bolts in loosely, I applied pressure to hold it back and tightned the bolts. this worked perfectly for me, you may have to do some reeming on yours? I talked to one other guy using this frame he has he silver carbon and he used a file on his.

Another thing to check, with the stock plastic frames I had two spacer washers with the one way bearing shaft (one each side of the OWB). With the Rotorworkz frame I had to remove one of the washers or it was way too tight with the main gear installed.

Consept1: thanks for the tip  I did last nigh and it work out great. I m going through the electronics now.
lightbuildjim: I had done that in the palstic frame i had before. I have download a new version of the manual and was included in the corections along with the list of the upgrades which where not included in the original manual i got with the bird the first time.
Anyway thanks for the suggestion.

I noticed in the pic your not using the swash guide, I would really recommend it because at any blades strike it can break the elevator arm lever or arm. Also it can prevent damage to the servos and links as well.

And it helps preventing your 401 from serious damage...

Wow that is like a Trex 600 pack! What is your ready to fly weight with these packs?

I havent weight but each battery weight around 450gr therefore if the heli is 1,9Kg without batteries, add another 900gr to it and calculates aroungd 2,8Kg.
I m new to this and I spend a lot of time hovering and some ff and the extra weight gave me more stabilty.

Hi!
Sounds great but how about flight time? Is it worth the weight? I'm thinking of jumping to 6s2p A123 (ANR26650) cells. Weight would be comparable with your 2x 3s config.

I got mine from Helidirect. www.helidirect.com (http://www.helidirect.com). Shipped to SA within 10 days.
concept1, nice job.
How is your gyro mounted?
I've got my fuse together but I don't understand the gyro mount.
It seems to be attached with a tab and slot at one end (fore) but not other end (aft), so that it will surely vibrate. See pict attached. Am I missing something?
thanks,
dpa
