Spectra T/R Gearbox Shaft/Gears

The new t/r output shaft and output gear setup is now being flown by several pilots. If no issues can be found, this will be released as soon as possible.

The t/r output gear will no longer attach with a pin through a hole in the shaft. There will now be a thick metal collar around the base of the output gear. Two shouldered set screws thread into the collar and gear and seat in dimples in the shaft. The t/r input remains unchanged. This uses the standard grey gears.

There have been a few reports of problems with the t/r shaft on the open t/r transmission, but only on the Spectra model. This should address those occurances.

Why has MA decided to go to the closed tail box on the Spectra? Is the new set screwed shaft not working out?

MA says dont use open tail box in Spectra because they still have failures send in the open box and they will give you a closed box. They blame it on the Quote: Paint Shaker Gas motors. The Shafts are the issue not the motors. I have a closed box metal gears on my Spectra and its great.Its a big let down that they cant get the open tail box to be as strong as the Old closed box :roll: and blame it on Gas Motors....to quick to write it off :badair:

has anyone actually had a failure with the latest upgrade to the open tail box? so far i have heard of none. i waited almost three months for MA to send my last one back, and i'm wondering if it will be quicker this time around?

I sent mine in and got the closed box back in less than a week. I called before sending it in and was told they are turning them around right away because they have them in stock and know everyone wants em.

I dont think everybody want the the closed box but they have no other choices
