I got a new Logo 6003D canopy today! It was still a little thin for my likeing so I followed the advise of BruceW. I bought some fiber cloth and medium set CA and went to work reinforcing the canopy all the way around the bottom edge. I also put a few layers over the eyelets. It doesn't really feel any heavier but it most certainly feels stronger. I was going to take pictures and show in detail how it's done but I got so excited over my new canopy I forgot.

One thing the make note of while it's fresh in my mind.... don't get to thick with the CA! Don't goope it up! It will get to hot and start to melt the canopy. Use a single layer of cloth, apply the CA and let it dry completely before applying the next layer. You should be fine if you take your time and go one layer at a time. I did 2 layers most of the way around. I used thick cloth in most places and thin around tight corners.

After I finished reinforcing the canopy I got rough with it, bending it as the simulate abuse over time. It held up great! So if any of you don't mind an extra 20-30 grams of weight this is the hot ticket to making a durable canopy. ;)

I CA one piece across the bottom and one over each hole. Sounds good Jeremy.

Yes 1 layer would have been fine but I'm anal about stuff like cracking canopies with high doller paint jobs. So I went above and beyond. It was only a few grams.

Great idea guys, i've got a new canopy with custom paint job on the way and would like to do this. What sort of fibre cloth is it you use, glass fibre?

What sort of fibre cloth is it you use, glass fibre? Yes, I bought a heavy weave for most of it and fine weave for going aroud tight corners

Would anyone mind posting pictures of the finished piece? Thanks.

I would but my canopy went to the painter yesterday. I won't see it for 2 weeks.

I found CF tape and epoxy resin thin, light and very tough - put a strip across the bottom lipand a few fibres under the canopy opening/

The canopy I received when I bought my Logo from someone has damage by the holes. I had picked up some of the cloth for another similar task and was actually planning on doing the same to support the holes. I had plans on using epoxy. Also planned on putting some patches on my t-600 canopies.

if im not mistaken i dont think epoxy is going to stick to the canopy very well, imo i would rather lightly scuff the area with a light grade sandpaper and use cyno with glass cloth, cant go wrong, have fixed three canopies this way and the holding well so far

Epoxy sticks just fine - the resin or the adhesive - I also use CA for the smaller cracks - or glass reinforced Scotch tape for the plastic canopy.
