First flight on my new Trex 450 SE V2 resulted in a boom strike that really wasted my poor bird. Sliding across carpeted floor ,(snowing outside), gear hung up on rug, chopped throttle-Whammo. Wrecked one of the carbon blades and bent the boom. Next, I stripped the head on 4 of those nasty little M2 socket button head screws removing the boom. Drilled those out, but I am going to have to find something a little better to replace those with. Anyone try stainless yet? Will they work with the little blue M2 washers? Noticed the swash was a little off kilter so I plugged the battery back in only to discover the gears are stripped in the aileron and pitch servo's. :arggg:
Afraid to check anything else! So, do I rebuild the SPMS75's that came with the DX 6 or replace them with something a little more substantial ? Any and all input greatly appreciated! :noteworthy

hs65mg's and don't worry about servos.

1) Change to true socket head screws. Modefos has a kit of the proper size socket head screws. Or order the proper ones from RTl Fasteners or Micro Fasteners.

2) If yoyu are using the Carbon blades, not the Carbon Fiber blades, get rid of them. They are known to cause boom strikes (very flexible) and go out of track. They don't even make good paint stirrers. I like the Tech Model Products woodies. $28 for 3 sets.

Thank you for the input. I checked Modefos and they are resonably priced. The blade that came with my Trex are the all white ones with a black stripe and the name "Align" at the end. Will be ordering some of those woodies you mentioned , today if the wife doesn't catch me! Thanks again for taking your valuable time to reply to my post!!:)

The white with black stripe are carbon fiber blades and are good blades.

But expensive for learning. :)

Amen to that, but the guy that built my bird say's the woodies "cause more accidents" because they fly so poorly. Since I am not buying my blades from him, I have no reason to dispute his word.
I failed to mention that in addition to my other woes, I noticed the head (heli as well as mine!) wobbles now when I spin it . More bucks down the tube. So much damage for what I thought was a minor boom strike. My bird tipped about 5-6 inches up on the training gear, I chopped the throttle and now I am looking at a major rebuild.
I also am kind of reluctant to use the servo's with the MG gears. I am afraid it will transfer the damage to some other part that might end up costing more than what it takes to replace/rebuild the standard gears.
Another noob question I am sure has been answered a bazillion times, but I can't find: Where do I get these Finless video's I keep reading about? Again many thanks for your time.

Respectfully,

Woodies fly fine. But to a point, but that point is well into the flying level. Many people fly 3D with woodies.
