Good Morning friends
I just found out I'm getting a 550 for my Birthday in a couple weeks, :YeaBaby: :YeaBaby: :YeaBaby:
What would be a better choice for Tail & Cyclic. I'll be using a GY401, I have a 6EX FASST radio.
Thanks in advance

9254 for the tail. For cyclic, you can use DS-821 servo (standard servos that come with the DX-7 radio) If you want a little bit more performance, you can go with the Hitec HS-6635 ($47/ea)

I'm running HS-5625MG's on the cyclic and the JR G770 3D / S8900G combo on the tail. The HS-5625MG's are running on 6V and I have a step down for the tail. Works well.

I'll be flying my Hurri more as I basically destroyed my T-Rex 450 this morning. Full speed lawn-dart from about 200'. Not much to save at this point.

If you want a good setup get rid of the 6EX FASST radio and go with the DX7 Spektrum. For my setup I have the JR X9303 2.4 Spektrum DS821 for cycle and Futaba Gy601 gyro with S9251 Tail servo.

I second the DS281 (good, strong and cheap) servos and 9254 expensive but worth it

I'm about to swap out the futaba 3151's that came with my radio for a set of DS821's (so I'll go +3 in suggesting these as well) these are cheap and easy to get a hold of - a lot of people sell them off when they buy a DX7 radio. Another thought for the tail if you are on a budget is the new DS20GMD tail servo from hyperion

just finished bolting one on my heli and will post on how it goes at $43 it looks like a bargain for a dedicated tail servo

Cheers Jactor

Yes will be very interested in how this tail servo performs

What gyro will you be testing with?

Let us know how you get on

Ben

How are you getting on with your Hyperion DS20GMD tail servo?
Would really like to hear how its working out for you

oh and what gyro are you using it with?

Thanks

9452or 9252 on cyclic, 9254 on the tail. works like a treat

8717s cyclic, G770/8900G on the tail. Using a 2S1P 1350mAh lipo to run the radio system with a stepdown to 5.2V for the gyro and TR servo. The 8717s are probably over kill and a standard digital servo would have worked just fine.

I have the collective and cyclic setup and I am doing bench setup on the gyro. I will finish the radio placement tonight. As soon as I get the 68T main gear and install it, I'll should be ready to fly it.
