Well, I've done it. I ordered the 2100T/3100G combo along with carbon fiber tail boom and skids. I know the 3100G is a tad heavy at 9g but its matched to the 2100T. It' also super quick, .07sec at 4.8v, and very strong putting out 31.7oz/in at 4.8v. These specs blow away anything else I've looked at for a tail servo and being matched to the 2100T, I don't think you can beat this combo. Sure the Spartan sounds really good but for the price of that gyro you get the 2100T/3100G combo and still have money left for other things. Not to take anything away from the Spartan ds760, its obviously one bad ass gyro.
I wanted to go ahead and pick up a new gyro as I will soon be starting the hover section of radds school of flight and I want something thats going to have a definite hold on the tail of my heli. The Esky HH Gyro I have now is pretty nice for $40 but does have a tendency (more than I think it should) to have drift issues making it so that you have to set up the tail servo every single time you want to fly. Hopefully my decision to go with the 3100G tail servo wasn't a bad one. I don't see how it could be as it is faster and stronger than any of the other popular tail servos for this heli and only a few grams heavier than the lightest of those.

I have the Logitech combo on my 200 and really like it, it holds great and I think you will not be disappointed. I have the 401 on my T-Rex and I like the logitech so much better that I am replacing it with the Hitec combo (based on the Logitech gyro)
It is a little more picky on setup. I got the aluminum boom mounts and that made adjusting the servo really easy compared to the stock plastic ones.

Where did you get the Aluminum Servo mounts?

Is the 3100G digital? Had one of my Futaba S3154 tail servo's get hotter than H-E-double L today. I might need a bigger servo. The 3154 is 7.8g so the 1.2g increase isn't a lot to worry about.

Yes the 3100G is a high speed digital, there is even a special optimal setting built into the gyro menu for it. It also has a built in heat sink, mine runs very cool after 5 min.
Here is the link for the aluminum mounts.

Well, I've done it. I ordered the 2100T/3100G combo
I've ordered this, too, for all the same reasons. Reports pending. Stand by.

I have heard that the 2100T and the S3154 was the perfect combo for the Gaui 200, but now you tell us that it is getting way to hot? :thinking
Does the servo need a step down, or could it be the servo type setting on the 2100T?
I am all ears ...

The 3154 is known to get hot. Its been known to burn out as well. Thats the servo I was going to go with but then decided I would be better off using the servo that the 2100T comes with, its is after all designed for use with this gyro.

I'm using the 401 with the S3154. I flew it yesterday and it was way too hot. I have about 100 flights with 3 different 401/S3154 combos and never had one get hot like that until yesterday.

Have you set your gyro for analog or digital servo?
As far as I have read, the 3154 only gets hot when the gyro is set to digital servo.

Yes its set to digital. It is a digital servo and performs a lot better when its set to digital.

Are you continuing to experience heat issues with that 3154 Buzzkill?

I havent been able to fly since Saturday. I did have it in idle-up mode with throttle at 100% and I was pumping the heli as hard as it would go. Full collective both directions. Maybe that had a lot to do with it? I hope to be back in the air soon and I'll let ya know if it still heats up.

Thats probably why. The people that have had issues with the 3154 burning out were doing some pretty hard 3d flying I think.

I don't think that my order from HeliDirect is going to arrive today. It didn't leave NH until after 7pm EST yesterday. Here's hoping that I am pleasantly surprised if it arrives today. :(

SergicalCfe,
I have installed the Logitech 2100T and an S3155 (somewhat larger), metal digital in a Dragonuss II, do to the overheating issues with the S3154. I have not flown the it yet as I am having programming issues. Has anyone used the S3155/2100T and does this servo also need to be used in analogue mode?

here is the set up video. watch it and follow everthing to the letter. yes, you must set it up in rate mode first. it's kinda like finding the mechanical center. i switched my gear switch back to gyro when i was done. no need to hover in rate mode for me.
good luck

My 3154 burned out yesterday after 20-25 flights. Its the 2nd one Ive done with the 401, so Im ditching this combo and will be going the Logitech 2100/3100 combo as well. I'm just annoyed as I originally bought the 3100 servo to pair it with the 401 only to find out it doesnt work with it as its only designed for the 2100 gyro which I have now sold to a mate. :( I guess its trial and error to find the best electronics setup that will last for the 200 :)

The 3100 should work with the 401. What makes you think it doesn't?
EDIT: Ignore that, you could be right. I may have got it confused with an almost identical Robbe servo.

I tried it with my 401 and also the JR770 and doesn't. It's just designed for the 2100 as confirmed with my local distributor. I wonder if it will work with any other gyros as its the best micro tail servo out there at the moment that suits the 200. A spartan with the 3100 would be the gun setup if it does. :)

Robbe FS61BB is exactly the same thing but works on standard 1520uSec. Both made by the same OEM. I have one on my Trex 450.

i'm using a futaba 3153mg and a 2100T logictech gyro. my tail control is awsome now. it took me a while to set it up right, but now...WOW.

I have the same combo, and the tail is horrible. I've tried the gain from 60 to 90 (using the gyro gain menu) and at best I get a wobbly tail (inch or 2) to massive tail wagging and a forced nose in auto (luckily throttle hold is using rate mode).
Can you list what your settings are?
I did have the gyro about 1cm away from the motor, but have moved it to a home made lexan tray in front of the servos. I have yet to test this configuration though.

i would test the new gyro location. mine is just forward of the motor. about 30 cm.
my radio is set up as follows:
aile exp +25%
rate: 0: 80%
1: 62% (i rarely fly in idle up) have not experimented...yet
pitch curve:
L. 30% HOLD and NORM
1. 36%
2. 50%
3. 75%
H. 100%
ST-1 & ST-2 are both linear from 0 to 100%
throttle curve: NORM is linear from 0 to 100%
ST1 & ST2 are both 90% across. again, i haven't got to adjust this yet.
swash mix 3 servos 120 degree EXP INH
aile - 55%
elev + 55%
pit. + 55%
travel adjust for rudder is 120% for L & R. all others are 100%
subtrims as needed. 0 for rudder is manditory with the 2100T.
hope this helps you at least to get a good hovering heli. re-setup the gyro, and make sure to watch the setup video for it. SET UP IN RATE MODE FIRST! i found out the hard way. i have only about 20 flights on this heli. it hovers nicely, and does small circuits smoothly. i have not done any 3D flying as of yet.
