Well, I went out to the truck yesterday morning to find a broken window! They cleaned the whole truck out, took everything. Here's the list:
spectrum DX7
JR 9303 2.4 (Just Upgraded to)
TREX 500CF (only 4 flights!)
TREX 450 V2
TP 1010 charger with 210 balancer
Hobbico Accucycle charger
6 2100 TP lipos
450 case
case with parts and tools
and a bag of misc hand tools
The good thing is they left the truck! They hit three vehicles around me that I am aware of. Of course mine was the only one with RC stuff. But they did take the neighbors truck.
I'm curious if they have tried to fly one of them yet or if they can even figure out how to turn them on. Both Helis were binded to the 9303 and it was set to the 500 so if they are not familure with the hobby they will never get the V2 to do any thing.
This happened at my house in Lexington SC and would appreciate any information towards finding the SOB that vialated me!

:bomb: People like that need a good old fasioned caneing in the middle of the street for all the town to watch. If out judicial system wasn't so fluffed up we wouldn't have these kinds of problems.

If you have homeowners insurance. It should cover the loss. If you have AMA they will pay up to $1000 for the stolen RC property. Yes I know that will not cover everything, but at least it is something.

Well I had the rest of my stuff in the garage. We live in a small, quiet subdivision and don't think about things like this. I was talking to one neighbor that has lived here alot longer than me and he couldn't remember this ever happening in this neighborhood before. Hell, he had left his keys in the ignition that night! I guess when you get a little to comfortable people take advantage of it.

Reminds me of a story that happened to my dads friend about 6 months ago.
He and his wife came home from church only to find the front door to their house standing open and a strange car in the drive. My dads friend pulled up a few yards behind the car and as he was getting out of his own car the burglurer came running outside with a bag of lute. My dads friend told him to freeze and pulled his gun on him. The guy just stopped and looked at him then dove into his car digging for something. My dads friends was yelling for him to get down on the ground and that he was calling the police! The burgluer came out of his car with his own gun. So my dads friend capped him in the head. Dead..... Found out later he was just released from prison serving 5 years for theft.

I am a firm believer in gun control!
I'm going to hit everything I aim at!:YeaBaby:
I wish that more people would take action the way your dads friend did. Both my wife and I have a permit to carry and it is probably a good thing that I was asleep in the bed when this happened. They would have had a major problem if I would have heard them.
The problem with shooting someone is the paperwork!

If you had heard them. All you could do is show them your gun and hope they/he would run. Can't shoot them unless they/he are going to do you harm. Now if they are inside your house, little bit different thing.
If you shoot someone, you better make sure they have a gun in there hand. It will more than paperwork if they don't.

Your sure your not from Texas David? That is exactly right.
If they have one foot inside your house shoot, but shoot to kill because if you don't you will get your ass sude and maybe do jail time. Also, you better tell the authorities you were afraid for your life and have a damn good reason to be before you start pulling the trigger.

thats why u have ur wife grab a knife and put it in his hand then the blood and through it behind u away from the guy. all u have to say is self defense and i move the knife so he couldnt use it again. Thats it. 3 shots head chest and 1 more in either always use defense bullets and there wont be any ?s. I am a firm believer in the right to bear arms hand guns and assult rifles :) the new hk looks sweet.

Carter,
You need to post some pics or anything unusual about your stuff, just in case it shows up down here. Plus, don't they still have a big flee market over on Hwy 1 ? If so, you might want to take a peek over there. I have a few friends that work for the County up there, I will make a call and see what I can find out.

I will definately be checking the flea markets this weekend and looking through the pawn shops over the next several weeks. The investigator that is over the case has pictures of the items that are missing. They have had problems in this area over the last few weeks and feel that hte items that they took from me are unique and hopes that will help. Just like you, I can positively identify them as mine, but trying to tell someone that is not into the hobbie what to look for is like asking a blind man to order at the drivethru!
As for as shooting someone on your property, make sure there is only one story! YOURS!
If someone is on my property they have shown complete disrespect for me and my family which shows me that they have know concern about there own life. If they don't care about there own life then they are a threat to me!

Well I had both my little trex case's stolen from my truck while I was in the liquor store buying smokes and I was only ten feet away with my back turned.Funny they always seem the get you when your not looking............:bomb:I was furious for about two days. They had all my spare parts and a few small tools in them.I lost around 350 worth of un used spare parts .and Radix rotors .I have three helis so when I started this hobby I got enought stuff to rebuild all three .two Trex se 450 v2 and a 3dx450se. Oh well I learned the lesson .Now I watch out and keep every thing well locked down..
I will never see this stuff again, and I am sure the F&$# that took the stuff has no Idea what any of it is and probly threw it all in the trash or some bush and kept the cool little aluminum cases.
To the rest of you here.. Think of it this way...KARMA. Sometimes the things that happen to us are our Karma from the past. ANd if it wasn't that case then the action is new Karma for whom ever stole from you! So Just learn the lesson and move on and always remeber to watch out and be safe .Be aware.:smokin:

Keep a look out for your stuff on E-Bay,rc web sites. Like you said these people probably don't know what they have but they can look it up. They will break it up and sell it a few months down the road if it's a theft ring, if it's a bunch of crack heads it will end up at the pawn shop .

It depends on the State.
In some states, even in your house, fearing for you life may not be enough (Mass for one). Other states you can use deadly force for protection of property (TX for all property and LA for a car jacking).

I believe that in TX the "any property" law only applies when it's dark, not entirely sure on that though.
In any case, I hope you can recover something or catch the guy. I know it's not likely in most cases, but if this guy hit numerous cars, and took off with someone's truck, there's a much better chance he'll get nabbed.

In Texas ventilate them and drag them in the house. The cops will be much happier than if you leave them outside. There is less paperwork, and every cop I have talked to said that they would overlook the drag marks.

Just make friends with the local funeral home. When you find him ( the thief) have him cremated!!! Dead or alive which ever is your choice. Once they are cremated there is no DNA to identify or evidence. Just kidding, I hope they do find him and your stuff.

I just saw it posted on the State FOP news links yesterday. It's kind of like a news letter to officers state wide.

always aim at the big spot. My mentors house was robbed 2 weeks ago, theives took plasma tv, gun, misc jewelery, all can be replaced. the worst was they went into the hobby room and trashed a trex 600, trex 450 and a few nitro cars on the way to steal his paintball gun. if anyone finds these guys, hold them and call me

Not r/c related but a few years back, some thiefs broke into my friends BMW took it for a ride and emptyed out a few thousand dollars worth of paintball gun and gear. We notified the local paintball store. A few days later some guys walked into the store trying to get the gun working and the worker recognized it, they distracted the perps and called the police.

I have a question, I have been thinking about this A LOT lately.
Some of my stuff has been purchased second hand, how do they claim that? I mean lets say I have an N9 and a 500CF that was second hand and have no proof of purchase?
Second, I dont even have any of the receipts for the stuff I DID buy from a store!
