well, it was a beautiful Sunday and 40+degrees here in NE ohio. I and a chance to fly my Hurri and test out my Rorotworks G10 frame. I had been flying the plastic frame with the RCP H/18 revco gearing and 21t pinion, with 6s evo 2500 and 7/8s A123 packs for about the last 100 flights.
I swapped everything over to the new frame Bearings and all. the only change I made was I went with the 22t pinion. first impressions were well awesome, no matter what I did, everything was smooth as silk, I could not make that hurri's tail shake or flutter, with or without the blades spooling up fast or slow or hovering at any RPM, also belt tension made no difference as it did on the plastic frame!
in flight this feels like a different heli, CG is much better then it was for me with my battery configs. I did not test 8s A123 but with my 7s I was able to get perfect balance and with the 22t pinion performance was 10x better then before, mostly do to the balance it flew like it was much lighter and balanced better, it rolls very smooth, and I should get about 5 minute flights frm the A123 packs, I was running 100% curves on my 21t pinion and it lacked vrs the 6s lipo, now I am running I think a 90 or 95% and performace is = to 6s lipo.
on my 6s lipo I dropped from my old idle 1,100% curve down to a 80 or 85 and performance it really unchanged from before. but i might be able to squeeze another 30 seconds or so of flight now., if i flip to my idle 2 (A123 curve) man it's a wild rocket!!!!
this frame is absolutly perfect for anyone thinking of going the A123 route, I got this frame because I had planned on going with 8s, but since it can be balances so well, I might just stick with 7s. I am going to reconfigure mypacks for easier use, I can go with 7s sticks for best and easiest balance, 2 cells side by side and 3 length wise, then the 7th cell crossways on the end this will allow most of the cells to go under the main mast with just enough up front for perfect balance.
