Anyone know if the Urethane dampeners part#546-16 and part#101-52 are interchangeable?

I ordered a set of 101-52 for my X-Cell 46 Graphite (the part # from the manual) but I received 546-16 instead. What is the difference between the two? On http://www.ronlund.com they look the same, except on the 101-52 screws appear to be included, and the price is different.

They are both different from the original dampeners from the kit (101-52) where there are four round dampeners instead of two banana shaped.

Thanks

Lars

The dampeners are the same. The difference being the screws and inserts are included in 101-52. The screws hold the post ( inserts) on to the clutch.
The dampeners you received ( 546-12) may be the new harder ones. You will have to modify the fan hub to get them to insert properly.

Look on page 10 of the instructions for the Stratus below and it will explain how to modify the fan hub for the new harder dampeners.

Thanks for your reply David

For some reason I can't see the page you refer to.

Anyway what you write is not like it is on the model (46 Graphite). The dampeners are pressed into the clutch itself and the posts are fastened to the hub. Opposite the drawing that was included with the dampeners actually. The holes in tyhe dampeners are too small for the posts.

Lars,
Sorry I forgot on the 46 fan hub that the dampeners screw to the top of the fan hub. And the dampeners actually fit in slots that are located in the clutch. Anyway the slots that are in the clutch I am not sure if they have to be modified to accept the new harder dampeners.

As I recall, the clutch for the 46 has pockets on the kidney bean ends for the sliced, original style dampers that were still being used when that clutch was designed. If this is indeed the case, you're going to have to start dremelling as decribed on the Stratus instructions the to get the new style ones to fit. The other option is to call Ron Lund and see if he has any of Steven Bell's "Duradampers" left over on the shelf. They're sliced from round urethane and will fit in the pockets in the 46 clutch.
