With the dx7 and gy401 do you want to have any mix say between tail rotor and turns. In HH mode when you turn left or right should you have to input tail rudder control following the turn or will the mix do it for you?
Been using the DX7 for two years mainly on planes though.

No you don't want a mix on the tail. You just learn how to fly the tail.

I had a feeling I was over thinking it. I don't mind controlling the tail I just don't understand what people are always talking about piro rate when you fly in HH all the time.

Flying the tail is one of the differences between operating a gyro in 'rate' and 'heading hold' modes. As the name implies, a heading hold gyro wants to maintain a heading. It won't allow the tail to simply follow the heli through a turn. You need to steer it through.

The piro rate is simply the amount of rudder authority the gyro provides. It's adjusted via the EPA (End Point) settings on the rudder channel. The wider the EPAs are, the faster the gyro will allow your heli to piro.

Thanks, makes sense. I watched a guy at a field years ago and doing simple circles
it looked like the tail came around in turns smoothly, I assume he was a better pilot then me.
