When I bought my 450 the local hobby shop sold me a Spektrum DX6 radio system. I am in the process of ordering all my electronics for my 500 and went to order one of the recievers that has the remote antenna (not sure of the model number) from Ready Heli. I put on the order if the reciever I had picked was not right for a DX6 to call and they did. They told me that I can't run any of the recievers with a remote antenna with the DX6 system. Now with all the issues with brown outs and static with the 500 should I run the DX6 in the 500 or should I upgrade to a DX7 or a JR or I even think the DX6I can run the recievers with the dual antenna. Any input will be appreciated.
I would return the DX6 and get the DX7 there are a lot of chooses in RXs for the DX7 and it has model specific with mine if you are not on the right model then it will not let you power up that model. The DX7 is also full range. Dx6 is a park flyer that will work fine but you only have one choose in RX and doesn't have a built in timer. My son and I both started with the DX6 on our TREX450s and switched to the DX7.

I was afraid I would get an answer like this:arggg: Unfortunatlly it is too late to return the DX6(I'm a slowwwww builder). I should have done a little more research before bying the DX6. I will probably start looking for a DX7 when I get home....maybe try sell the DX6...Thanks!!

Dude...you don't have to sell it, after all the two part receivers are the ones with the really bad static issues. I run a dx6 and they are not a 12 channel futaba, but an good radio.

I ordered a DX7 Micro light (comes with the AR6100 and 3 S285 servos) today from ReadyHeli.com should show up tomorrow. I really wouldn't have bought the DX6 if I new it was only rated as a "Park Flyer" radio. I have planes and 2 nitro helis I would like to use the 2.4 system on also so I guess that will teach me to be a more informed consumer!!:arggg:

Uh, I hate to depress you but you may want to re-think that one, too. The 6100 will work with the DX7 but it does not allow for a remote receiver like the AR6200 and AR7000. The idea, as I understand it, is that with the larger physical size of the Trex 500, all that mass can create a sort of 'shadow' that 'hides' the receiver from your transmitter's signal. Having a remote receiver located away from the main receiver and oriented so its antenna covers a different plane makes reception much more reliable.
The Spektrum (http://search.horizonhobby.com/index.jsp?N=812&sid=1187CC3F35A0) pages in Horizon's site go into this and there are a number of mentions of remote (satellite) receiver placement here in the Trex 500 section.
I may be overly cautious on this. I went with the AR7000. Maybe the 6100 is fine. Guys?
Some will disagree but IMO 500 and up AR7000, 450 and smaller AR6200,6100,6000.

get the DX7... awesome radio with endless possibilities... if you are on a budget, get the new DX6i... works great and you can use a 6200 that has a satellite on it... great radio for 180 bucks.

DX7 better functionality and more rx to choose from.
If get a DX7 make sure its the heli model or the plane model. Functoins are the same but switches are in different places.
