View Full Version : Just bought a Mikado 500 dx what pinion?

I just bought a Mikado 500 dx, I have a Medusa 1000kv motor and am running 7s1p A123. What pinion would be a good starting point? I run the swift in the 2100 headspeed range, fly inverted and basic 3d. I know the 500 3d is better but A Main Hobbies had these for $284 and couldn't pass up the deal. I have about 150 flights on the swift and have been very happy with this set up on there. I was thinking 16 or 17 tooth since I dont need anything really banging.

Use the headspeed calculator available and put numbers in for what you were happy with on the Swift for gearing, then input the Logos gearing and you will be able to get very near same target HS.

I found a calcualator, what main gear does a 500dx come with?

Stock 500DX comes with the 212 tooth .5 mod. main gear.

Thanks ! looks like I am gonna start off with a 20 tooth and shoot for 2000-2100 head speed.
