Does anyone have a good source for 5 Balde rotors that is not costly? I'm working an a scale 500d and need a rotor for a 10 mm or 12mm shaft.

I have this one:

I'm also making a 3 blade and 4 blade for my 500D to give it more tail authority and look more scale. See here:

Thanks for the reply
new 5 bladed heads are starting to show up for the 600 sized heli's. Check out the penta head listed at www.rc-expert.com. Under $250.00 (by a penny of course)
Here's a better link http://www.rc-expert.com/accessory.php?pid=147&aid=la0018

Wow, they've already gone up... I could have sworn I saw that head for $199 around a week ago??
You misunderstand -----
The price for the 450 size head is still $199
The $249 is for the 600 size head

The 450 head is around $100+/-... I have both the three and four blade 450 heads. IIRC the five blader is ~$119.
The 50 size head was on someone's site for $199 a week or two ago...

Hey Deron
Have you been flying the 3 or 4 bladed head? I have the 5 bladed on my trex450 and thought I had the phasing correct but it is still very unstable? I have seen the other posts that say to have the follower in the middle 50% of the forward blades and the other end pointing at the tail.
I had it hovering about a foot off the ground and the follower loosened up:(.

I'm not sure. I'm still in the building stages. I made my own 3 blade tail, so tat took some time. And I'm waiting on the mixer before I can take it for a spin. Not in much of a hurry, we have about 2 feet of snow here.

I recall the same thing. If I remember I got my 4 blade head from rc-machine for around $89-99 something like that. And I bought a 5 blade recently for $119.00 IIRC

In reply to docjr on the phasing of the blades it is my understanding that you setup the follower so the blade over the boom does not move with evelator input that will set the timing correctly!
Here is a quote from Peter Wales who has several large scale heli's
" You need 90 degrees between swashplate and blade. You
probably have 45 degrees with the pushrod, so you probably need another
45 degrees. Turn the swash driver until the blade over the boom does not
move when given an elevator command. Then your timing is perfect".

Hi Folks,
I'm a total newbie to scale and have become interested in multi-blade heads for my Trex 450. I have seen some heads that require a mixer and some that supposedly don't. Do most people fly without them? How stable is a 450 with a quad blade and no mixer and how much time do you have to spend on it in order to have it fly well? Anyway, any advise would help, thanks!!

The helicopter will respond faster to input controls thus making it more twitchy, the most mportant part is the setup. Make sure that you have everything well tuned and practice on your simulator as much as possible. If you go with the gyro's and mixers then you will have a copter that will fly like your hiller head does now good luck. reference site www.deeteeenterprises.com (http://www.deeteeenterprises.com) look at the Hughes 500 scale build

Be wary if you order from RCMACHINE aka RC-EXPERT, LIGHTNING HELI I ordered a penta head for the 600 sized copter from them on 3-07-08 and a buddy of mine ordered the next day STILL NOT HERE.We contacted the factory and they said that the are having problems with the manufacturing co. THEY TAKE YOUR MONEY then MANUFACTURE the parts  I dont think I will do business with them again. Better off paying more through VARIO, CENTURY or STARWOOD and knowing that they will inform you of the status of your order and shipping info so you can track your order.

I've been in contact with LIGHTNING HELI and have had positive results with this company. LIGHTNING HELI is in the process of correcting a problem with there design at there own expense. They have recalled all unsafe units and will be shipping new part in the near future. I hope all who have purchased from this company have had the same results that I have.
I also have had a positive indication from Lightning Heli. I look forward to seeing the new head shortly.
