I picked up a FlyCamOne2 from Hobby-Lobby and unfortunately my 1GB Kingmax SD card causes extremely sluggish camera performance. My SanDisk 256MB card works just fine but its too small. Is anyone using 1GB or higher with their FlyCamOne2’s? If so, what SD card brand are you using that works?

Make sure it's a high speed, or high performance, card. It should be able to record 30 frames per second, at least.
I use Kodak high perf cards in my Canon S3IS, capable of 60 FPS.

If anyone is having the same problem, I picked up a SanDisk Extreme III 2GB card and it works very well now. My old Kingmax card must not have a very good write speed. The SanDisk writes at 20mb/s (133x) which seems to provide the necessary performance.
FYI, with a 2GB card I'm getting as much as 40 minutes of recording time on the FlyCamOne2 at 640x480px.

LOL, I wish! You wouldn't need LED’s to fly at night if it was!
Unfortunately the camera outlasts the TREX. ;)

My SanDisK 1 GB disk works fine on what I have tried. I working on a better mount for the TREX 450. The "Flip Camera" was easy clear but was abit heavy. If you go to the FlyCamOne2 home site and click on the english, the post was out on the FCO2 problems with different cards. May still be there. The the SanDisk 1GB. I'm sure it will work. 1hoptycopter

I'm using the Sandisk Ultra II SD cards (512MB and 1GB) and they are fine.
How are you guys managing to dampen the vibration transferred to the camera. I've tried all sorts of foam between the frame and the camera, but I still can't eliminate all the vibration.
Any suggestions or solutions would be welcome :)
Cheers,
Heath

I would also like to hear feedback on vibration issues. I noticed -- what I consider a lot -- of vibration from my mount. I have enough foam that the camera lens is almost touching the ground. I’m using Velcro to attach the camera to the frame and I’m wondering if that is causing the camera to pivot during vibration? I wonder if sticking the foam directly to the frame would help -- similar to a gyro mount? Of course I don’t want the camera to be a permanent installation either so thoughts are appreciated.
First FlyCamOne2 test flight... you can see the vibration:

I attached flycamone2 to the frame without any foam, just zip tied, and used foam on the back of the tilt lens so that it doesn't vibrate. Works well :)

Thanks for posting Crabfu... I see your video also suffers from the same wobbly picture I'm getting -- although not as bad. Your heli is probably setup better than mine. ;) You’ll notice it’s not just your canopy that is "flexing" but the ground and everything as well. I assume this is from vibration but maybe not? Perhaps its interference from the motor?
I like your foam behind the swivel lens and I’ll have to try that to stop it from moving on its own.

I thought the same when I watched his videos. It does however seem much less than in your videos. Try this:
Watch Crabfu's videos and cover the canopy part of the video with your hand, so you don't see the canopy. Now you'll notice that the ground and other reference objects are not shaking nearly as bad as in your videos.
I think his dampening might work alright - if not just perfect yet...

yeah the canopy does make it look all shaky, but like int2str said, the terrain looks ok.... at least good enough for me :) I might try some dampening on the unit itself, but am actually very pleased with the quality of the vids so far.

Great info but you gotta remember this is a $100 video camera. You can only ask/get so much. I run (2) $200 Sony Ex-View bullet cameras and a $1500 DVR that records at 640x480 @ 30ips on ea channel in my car and the video is very close to Crabfu's. For the $$ i thin the FlyCamOne2 is about as good as it get for now.

Yeah flycamone2 is quite amazing, it's light, cheap, and the quality is good enough for most of us :) The original video is also much better than the youtube version, the only thing that I can complain about is mine won't stop recording and loosing the video sometimes.... really frustrating to loose a good flight.
I also use it as a hat cam lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xE7ZN2Aq27Y
Sorry for jacking the thread.... to comment on the original topic, I am using a cheap 2GB RIDATA lightning series card.

for the hat yes- using windows movie maker and rotated 180. But not for mounting it on the heli, that comes right side up.
