Now that I've had it for a couple days, I can say I'm pleased with my decision to dump RF for Phoenix. I can't completely put my finger on it but the Phoenix sim has a more realistic feel to it... I think looking back, RF's helis are WAY too stable and don't "move around" as much as they should... Like a simple upright piro, I think that they're way too easy to hold in one spot with RF, Phoenix is making me learn them over again.. This is not a bad thing.

There are other things I can't put my finger on but the overall "feel" of it seems to be much closer than the real thing.

DX7 voltage barely moves at all... I think it went from 10.7 to 10.5 volts after an hour of sim time today.

Complaints? 600N and K3D(haven't really tried any other helis) seem to have SLOOWWW cyclic rates and little collective pop. Slow piro rates as well. I don't know if I did it correctly but I went in the aircraft editor and bumped up the sliders for cyclic and pitch, also tail rotor as high as they'd go... This sped up the flip/roll rates a bunch as well as the piro rate. If there's a better method I'm all ears.

I also modified the 600N, changed the headspeed from 2000 to 2200 and increased the pitch range to +/- 14 degrees... I wonder if I should bump up the tail rotor speed another 800 rpm or so..

Online play is nice... I can actually host one and there's not the constant disconnections that I got with RF.

Anyways if anyone wants to give some tips for general usage of the sim, settings etc that they implement for realism, I'd be happy to hear them. So far it's a world ahead of RF but I think there could be a little tweaking done yet.

Can i take credit for your conversion ?!?! :) You can change the piro rate in the edit aircraft section. I usually bump my 450 size heli up to 450-500.

Oh I suppose you can get some credit:)

Glad to hear your discovering what we've known for awhile!! Hope to see ya online soon, oh and get teampeak so HFG can annoy you over the mic instead of strictly in print.

Yep got teamspeak just have to grab a headset sometime tomorrow. And don't think HFG has the market cornered on being annoying, you haven't heard me talk:D

Aww come on that would be funny, then when you say 'Bill' we can both go "huh?" over and over again:D

Meh you can call me five or fiveo, that's what everyone online calls me anyhow.

I just got Phoenix a few days ago as well. I've had mixed reactions as compared to RF.

Overall the models fly nice, better than RF I think. The only thing that seems a little unrealistic to me is doing rolls while moving forward. In RF and in real life my models tend to pitch-up a bit while rolling but in Phoenix the models roll like they are on rails (too easy). Anybody else experience this?

Sound is poor in Phoenix. Most of you guys probably don't care about this too much but I'm very picky when it comes to the way things sound. I can live with it though.

I'm happy with it though and will continue to use it for practice. The fact that you can download new updates and models for free is great.

Look in this section further down, there are different sound options available that others have done. I personally use the Hatori file.
As far as your models pitching up in real life, sounds more like interaction. If setup properly your heli should roll like on a rail.

Is there a way to turn off collisions in multiplayer?

On the serious side no. I dont believe there is.

Its not my fault you guys spool up in my flying area :) I have to agree with you helical that the sounds in Pheonix are horrible, but iam using just listening to music or Bill's 600N crashing down at 1000mph :)

Yes you definitely don't miss it when someone crashes in multiplayer!

Hopefully I can get on this weekend sometime. I picked up a headset/mic at best buy today.

OK, I got my sim today and I'm trying to figure out how to set-up throttle hold on my DX7. Can some one help me? This thing rocks BTW!

Just setup a new model with no CCPM mixing, then the rest of it is just like setting up a real heli.

A little animal trivia...the Capibara is also the world's largest rodent (adults can weigh as much as 140 lbs.) and is native to South America...primarily the Amazon River Basin.

I bet you stink though:D

I really don't know exactly how I set up my transmitter, all I know is the gear switch is my hold switch and nothing else functions so all I have is idle up, collective/rudder/cyclic. I can't fly the CX2 because I've got no "normal" pitch and throttle settings. I'm not sure how I got to that point... It's fine, but if I want to fly a fixed-pitch heli or a plank, I can't cause it's either on or off with the throttle... Aileron/Elevator/Rudder is also inop if I switch to a plank.

Pheonix only reads your radio signals. If you change your flight mode to a normal curve you will get a normal curve.

Should I start with their default radio then?

I couldnt' seem to get anything to work that way, set up my own and assigned each function to one of the "working" sticks or switches.

I guess I'll have to go through everything again. It's fine for flying helis in idle up but I can't do anything else.
