I have a brand new GY401 servo trying to drive a new JR DS3400G digital servo. When I hook the servo straight to the receiver it works fine. When I hook the servo to the gyro and connect the gyro to the receiver, the servo does not respond. The LED id on and flashing at about a 1/2 second rate.
I have tried plugging the gyro into multiple receiver ports and tried it with both the gain connection hooked up and unhooked. The DS switch appears to be in the On (up) position. But it is very hard to tell. The DS and Dir switch just look like slides and don't appear to move, but pictures I have see online look like these should be rocker switches.
Does anyone have any idea what might be wrong or does it sound like the switches are bad? It is a brand new gyro, so I would be surprised if they were bad. But anything is possible I guess.
Any suggestions?
Tnx,
Rick

Those are "slide" type of switches, not really rockers. Use a flashlight or something to brighten up what you are looking at and it might be a little more obvious what position they are in.
What Rx/Tx are your using? If you are using 2.4Ghz systems, then you might need to plug the Gyro into the proper slot on your receiver and rebind the Rx/Tx. I don't know why, but I have had the same problem with both gyros and servos with my Spektrum stuff and rebinding has always cured the problem.
Also, make sure you are getting the proper voltage to the gyro. Too high or too low may cause problems like this.

I used a 8x loop and looked at teh switches. They sort of look like slides, but I couldn;t get tehm to move with teh little screwdriver that comes with the Gyro. But the look like they are set on DS and Norm for Dir. So hopefully these will work.
I am in fact using a 2.4 system. I have tried both an A6100 and an AR7000 receiver. On the 6100 I used the Rudder port for the Gyro control and the Gear port for the Gyro Sensing control. On the AR700, I used the Rudder port for the Gyro control and tried both the Gear channel and the Aux1 channel for Gyro Sensing.
I tried rebinding, but no difference. The 6100 doesn't act like it like the DX7. I have had to rebind it a lot. I need to send these to Horizon for a FW upgrade anyway.
I jlooked at the DX7 manual again to make sure I had teh channels correct. I see now that the Gyro Sensing function only works if either the Gear or Aux2 channel is setup up as Gyro on the Gyro Sensing menu. Do you think that could be the problem? Does teh 401 require a sensing signal to work at all?
I am going to try and figute that out and see if it helps.
Tnx for the help so far.

EUREKA!!!
I set up teh gear channel for Gyro Snesing and the servo responds now. I tried flipping the gear switch and it did not go to HH mode, but i am sure that is beacuse i have not done teh rest of the proper travel programming.
Gee, its amazaing what you learn when you read th3 instructions!!
"Manual? I'm an Engineer. I don't need no stinkin' manual"
Thanks for your suggestion. It clues me in for sure.

Glad to hear you worked it out. Time to fly it?

If I could just get home from work in time to finish it....
My wife informed me tonight that I am doing nothing but work on the heli tomorrow. (I think she wants her table back!). IAll have to do is finish the tail adjustments, program the ESC, level the swash, balance the blades and adjust the tracking.
So hopefully Sunday afternoon will be time to give her a whirl. Thanks again for your help! Your saved me the time and embarassment of sending back a perfectly good gyro.
