View Full Version : Tuning the os by temperature
I have just started running in my os 50 hyper on 20% nitro. I am i.25 turns in and i think i am still quite rich. I have a trmperature loop on the head, which recalls the highest temperature reached. Currently my max temp is 45 degrees celcius which i think is cold. Does anyone know what the recommended temp range is for this enginer.
Thanx

That is ice cold - you should start off with your needle around 1 1/4 turns out (gently fully close then open anticlockwise) - then you experiment with click at a time either way till you get a steady engine note, white smoke but not dense and a head temp ~ 90°C

The CSM Carb Smart has settings of 90, 100, 110, 120 and 130C with the best power generally being around the 110C mark. I'd go with Mercuriell, you need to get the head temp up to at least 90C or running in will take forever and the engine may not ever give its best.
thanx guys. I just wanted to start on the safe side and go from their. I guess i should also see a large improvement in fuel economy also .....
