View Full Version : Battery dis-charge rate on your DX7 while sitting.

So I've had my DX7 for about 3 weeks now.

So I put the DX7 on the charger, charge it to the full 11.8 volts or so.

Now 2 days later the battery has fallen down to 10.7 volts. Tx has not been turned on since it was charged.. is this normal?

That seems like quite the dis-charge rate for it being off.

Am I correct in thinking the DX7's memory is a EEPROM type or something of that sort (IE no power needed to keep the memory like in a secure digital memory card, USB keychain memory card, etc)

If I were to leave the battery un-plugged until its ready to use will it keep the memory?

I don't know what the recommended minimum battery voltage is before it starts loosing range.

At 10.6 volts it still passes the specified range test, but I don't want to go out flying and have it drop out of the sky. The DX7 does take a long time to charge too.

Yes, it takes forever to charge those things.

My first DX7's battery acted the same way for the first few charges, but got better every time. Sometimes, I let them sit for weeks at a time now with minimal loss of charge (I travel a lot).

Cycle it a few more times and see how it acts. If it still discharges that quickly, you will probably have to replace it. You can also call Horizon and see what they recommend. You never know, they might send you a new one.

I have a LiPo pack for one of mine, too, but sometimes I wonder how long I can safely let it sit in the Tx at a nearly full charge. It takes that thing weeks to run down to 11 volts when I'm actually using it!

My DX7 acts exactly the same… I suspect this is “normal”. The manual states you should not fly below 9.0v so that should be considered empty.
