<------ New to RC Heli's

When my battery starts to die on my Honeybee King V2 the heli goes into 3D mode and i'm not able to throttle down, moving the 3D Mode switch on the transmitter does nothing.
I either have to let the batt die completely or unplug while rotors are still moving.
Is this normal? if not any suggestions?

Additional info:
I've only had 3 Flights with my new HBK2
Heli is all STOCK "no upgrades" yet.

Sal, welcome to the heli addiction! :)

I'm not sure I understand what you are describing, but you should not be flying until the battery "dies" or you will do irrepairable harm to the pack! You should never discharge the battery beyond 80% of its capacity, and usually if you fly it until you notice a power drop you are beyond that point already.

You might want to use a kitchen timer and set it to remind you to stop flying before the battery gets too low.

That's another quirk we have observed with the stock esky receiver, For some reason, if it get some sort of a low voltage, it does that. Most of the guys who have one usually replace the receiver with an aftermarket one. The 6 ch corona dual conversion and or the HDX dual/single conversion receivers are popular here. Very inexpensive and compatible with both JR/airtronics and futaba/hitec receivers. Just buy the crystal that matches the channel of your transmitter.

Thanks, that makes sense, i'll look into a new receiver. I've already ordered the BL motor and 10T pin / ESC etc..
