I have been using a new BC-6 for about a week with my Laptop, I loved it but it fried my PC cable. BC-6 manual says to not use AC and DC power supplies at same time, but it came with the DC power supply cords wrapped so the + and - ends are right next to each other, I moved my laptop, the ends of DC power supply (not in use) touched while using AC power and the BC-6 rebooted and my laptop cord stopped blinking and wont work any more to monitor charging. Charge still charges though.
Where do I call for support, Korea?
I purchased this unit from All-battery.com and they didn't send my lipo connector with the original shipment (one week), called and another week later a connector for a BC-8 shows up, not the BC6, it was too big, 9 pins instead of 8, but with some clipping and soldering per the diagram and testing I managedto make it work. Can't get though on phone to all-battery, line is busy so in a chat session they say they will get the right connector to me. Now this pc cable issue and I don't feel I was warned to keep the DC ends apart when using AC.
Very frustrated. Anyone know anyplace in the US I can deal with for support? I bought the cable for laptop from helidirect, should I contact them? Am I at fault for letting those leads touch?

The manual states that they can touch. No damage to the charger would take place and the unit will just reboot.
Since you purchased the cable from Helidirect, please contact them regarding this issue as your dealer that you purchased the cable kit from.

Sounds like you do not have it installed at all.
You must follow the directions for installation closely. The install directions are on the cd. If you insert the CD in your computer and nothing comes up, then run the setup manually from the cd.

Evan, I have managed to install the PC software for BC6 correctly (I believe) but... it seems it doesn’t want to run on my laptop, now I think it states 3Gig + processor in the requirements but I'm running it on a Sony Vaio SZ4 with 2G+ dual core and 2G Ram which isn't slow but doesn’t look like it can handle this program.
If it is the processor speed can't be many laptops that can handle it? Help?

That is plenty of power. If it doesn't run, that usually means it is not installed correctly.

I have removed and installed it twice, will give it another go tonight!
It all comes up on the monitor ok and I managed to install the serial no. but when I've connected up to the BC6 it seems to freeze.

Freezing is different, you said it didn't run.
In most cases, it is the settings of USB chip. The following was determined by another user.

I finally got the Bantam Estation software to work in Vista.
First load the software as provided, then update the USB driver.
Google 'CP210x' and select the Silabs site.
Download the latest driver and install it.
Plug in the USB lead with it's dongle, wait for all the Windows messages about loading drivers to finish and open Device Manager using Control Panel.
Look for 'Ports (COM & LPT)', click the + sign to get to the CP210x item.
Right click it and select 'Properties', then click the Port Settings tab.
Click on 'Restore Defaults', then 'Advanced'.
Uncheck 'use FIFO buffer'.
OK your way out.
The next step is to make the software actually work using one of Window's undocumented features.
Right click the icon for the Estation software on your desktop and select 'properties'.
Click on the 'Compatibility' tab.
Select 'run this program in compatibility mode' and choose Windows 98(!)
Check the following boxes :-
Disable visual themes
Disable desktop composition
Disable display scaling
These last three steps may not be necessary, but you don't need them, so why not?
Click 'Apply' and 'OK'
It's probably worth rebooting at this point to ensure the registry is updated.
All should now be well.
The processor on my 1.4GHz dual core Pentium used to run at 100% and the software crashed regularly, now it runs at 3% and the software hasn't crashed - yet!
Be aware that it seems to like to be the only thing running on the PC, don't be tempted to run anything else at the same time.
BTW - this should work in Windows XP as well as Vista, it, too, has the hidden compatibility mode.
RC Accessory - I'm quite happy for you to give this guide to your customers providing you credit me - Alan Bedingham. It took me a fair amount of time and effort to get to this!

check the program menu on the BC6 and enable the USB (instead of the temp sensor). it's OFF by default. i run my monitor cable/software on a latitude D610:512Mb:XP SP2.
if it's already USB-enabled, then plug in the cable and check the device manager and see which COM port your cable is being assigned. it should be in COM ports below 10.
