I have a HBFP which I can hover. I want to get a larger, more stable electric heli. The qualities (if they exist in one package) I want are:
Wind resistance (up to 10mph)
Long flight times (10 to 15 minutes)
3s to 5s size lipos only, no 6s or 10s

A 450 such as a T-Rex 450 is about the only thing that comes close, although you won't get anywhere near 10-15 minutes of flight time, more like 6-7 minutes.

Hi StvJeep,
Going thru the same process.
Currently flying a HoneyBee FP (couple of months) and I need to upgrade.
I have done lots of reading and investigating and final conclution:
T-rex 450 Se V2
I'm allready wating for the kit and other parts and I'll update ...
One thing - as for flying time:
If you'r not into some particular mission that requires long continues flying time
go for 2 batteries. each will give you a couple of minutes and with a nice charger you can recharge one while using the other (and ... the bird will be lighter ..).
Gain all the worlds :-)

I fly hurricane 550EP with FP 5S 5350 @1660 HS spinning 550 CF blades.
Wind resistance, to some point, but a whole lot better than T-rex 450.
13,5 minutes of flytime, reaching 80% discharge rate.
5S
I went with the Belt CP. Have only flown three times. First time was in about 8 mph winds and it is much more stable than the HBFP.
I've never timed my actual flight time, I would guess it is somewhere between 7 to 10 minutes of hovering, landing, letting it cool (and let the battery recuperate a bit) for 30 seconds to a minute, then more hovering.
One thing I've noticed is that the battery (11.1v 1800 mah) is humumgous compared to the HBFP's and it gets noticeably warmer than the smaller battery.
The HBFP is still fun to fly when there is no wind.

Give the T-rex 450 a shot, I'm running a NEU 1107/2y/2.3, Jazz esc w/ goveror, Kong power 3s 2200mah, 13t pinion and I get 8 min easy without pushing the packs. Then you can drop to a 9t pinion and up to a 4s pack and turn up the heat. Can handle some wind, small enough for a suburban back yard or even drive way. Big enough to bring the the field.
