Hello everybody,

This is my first post in this forum; I am a newbie in RC Helicopter hobby field.
I need some feedback and help from you guys. I started practicing with G4 simulator, now I am (I think...) ready to do my first purchase. Here I am going to list the items that I am going to purchase and later ask you some questions..

Here is the set :

*-T-rex 500 CF with CF blades
*- JR x9303 Radio with its 9-channel receiver
*- Futaba GY611 gyro combo (S9256 servo)
*- Hitec HS-5245mg servos
*- Flight power 2x 3s Lipo's
*-Hyperion Duo Lipo charger

Now my questions:

1.- Gyro, I know that GY611 might be an overkill , but I'd like to think about near future when I move to probably a T-rex 600/700 nitro...now the question is, would Spartan Ds760 be a better choice, since I am paying almost the same amount for GY611 ?

advice
2.- I was looking at different chargers and came across the Hyperion duo (dual output) sells for 270 US$ and needs an additional PS for about $70 I like this charger, looks good and has a lot of functionality BUT its missing the "Discharging" option, now is this option really necessary to have, I mean how often you guys do discharging through your charger, any input is appreciated, or if you know about any other brand/type let me know

I guess that's it for now, I hope you guys could give me some advice and more info about the items that I listed here!!
Thanks

well i'm a no0b myself, but i'd put the carbon blades on hold till you can actually fly. one doeeeee, and those expansive carbon blades are toast. that's about all i can comfortably comment on.

From my experience, I would not go over board on the gyro-- thinking that I will move it over to a nicer setup. Once you get a heli, you will not want to sell it... you'll just get another one. Hence, you're gonna need to buy another gyro anyways.

Look around at some of the galleries here of other pilots.... most of us have more than one heli. Some have more than 5.

Get a 401. You will not be disappointed. Its easy to setup.

I never discharge my lipos. I do have a balancer though, but none of my batts have ever been out of balance even after 50+ flights. I personally don't see the need for a discharger.

Thanks for the advice, I might order an extra set of GF blades and save the Cf ones for when I am ready to use them. As far as Gyro goes you are right I think I could go for an extra set of Lipo if I choose the 401 instead of 611.

Thanks ShggyBirdman,

I'll probably start with a set of GF blades and then move to CF !!!

Thanks for the advice

Dont try to discharge lipo's if any cell falls below a minimum value it will not recover - use a ballanced charger and once heli starts to loose power STOP even the best chargers can only do limited repair, once a cell is dead then the battery is useless.
