Well I hijacked a thread over at RR because I was so pissed at this Freya. Found a crack in the plastic radius block. Yet another little upgrade item and another Freya shortcoming. After some discussion with a few people I was convinced to replace the item with a metal radius block. This only leaves on other thing I haven't addressed - the plastic auto hub issue. So alas, Ricks has another $70+ in the name of making the Freya worthy of a 91!
So here is the 'list':
Third Bearing on main shaft
Push Pull collective
Delrin main gear
Metal canopy standoffs
Relocated switch
CX Dampeners
CX Cap bolts on Pivot bearings
Teflon heatshrink on tail pushrod at guide locations
Replaced all 4mm button head bolts with cap head bolts
Metal auto hub (on order)
Metal radius block (on order)
What next? :x

In defense of the standard Freya, it was never really intended to be abused with a 91. The idea was for it to be a low-cost version of the Eagle series. Hence, plastic parts to keep the cost down. Hirobo figured that if somebody wanted to fly a 91, they'd get the Freya EX instead.
But at least the upgrades are available to adapt it to handle the monster motors. :D Besides, even with the cost of the upgrades, it's still probably cheaper than most other 90 ships.
i gotta tell you, my night rig is a STOCK Freya 91 with 2 upgrades:
1. thrid bearing block (NOT a must!)
2. CX dampners - a must if you fly hard 3D, and i like to fly that !
knock on wood, the machine flys awesome flight after flight, with the plastic bearing block (one way) and without anything else ! and this machine flys 3D with at least 1 lb of extra weight (2 large sets of glowire + batts).
I LIKE IT!
ZZ, i really think you must be doing something wrong, but if not, and youre so unhappy wit the machine - just sell it... its just a hobby, you shouldnt fly a machine you dont like.

I3DM,
It really is a nice flying machine with the exception of autos. I do believe a big part of the auto problem is probably the blades.. but I really just don't have confidence in the heli. I hold back on my flying and just can't bring myself to believe this heli will hold up like a Fury or similar. Another thing I have come to dislike is the fuel tank design. The center location of the clunk line allows for the clunk to get stuck in the forward part of the tank. Now I know why I have seen info posted about a heavier clunk for the Freya. Just another one of those 'simple' upgrades that don't ever seem to stop.
Just because I am unhappy with my Freya and you are happy with yours does not mean I am doing something wrong. You are certainly entitled to your thoughts but at least we can agree on your second point. Sell it! I decided a couple of weeks ago to put it up for sale. I flew it last weekend anyway since I was over at the Milton Crew's field and that fuel clunk got stuck on two flights. Good thing I run a header tank.
It is a super clean heli, flies great, just doesn't like me at all. Probably because it knows I don't like Hirobo (never really have that much). If any of you DO like Hirobo, mine is listed over at RR for sale section. I'm going to an Extreme.

Hey ZZ3.
funny you mentioned autos, it aint no Fury tempest in autos but i too believed at first that the Freya was hard to auto, until i started flying it a little, and now i can do pirofliping pushouts at 5 feet off the deck !
about the clunk, i just use a tubing i got from Ricks - blue thin tube, the clunk gets everywhere.
about confidence, man i wish you could see mine fly ! i fly with the CX dampners and can do blurry fast chaos all day long without hasitation !
take a look at the X-spec vid, i dont have a current Freya 90 vid but i can tell you i do everything i do with the X-spec, with the stock 90 too, its just slightly less locked in manuvers:

good luck.
