Anyone out there have experience with both AFPD and Phoenix? I'm starting to get bored with AFPD and the recent update gave me a few more bugs (sim works fine but some of the sounds are missing and a few visual glitches on the main menu screen). I'm interested in Phoenix but I'm curious if it's really worth me buying a second sim. I hope Phoenix is maintained a little better and has a little cleaner programming (bugs and glitches really chap my ). Plus I'm looking forward to some contest modes, flight training, and online play!
Thanks for any insight.

I have both. AFPD is better for planes, IMHO. I think AFPD is harder to fly the helis, Phoenix is easier, but reality is somewhere in between. I like the helis in Phoenix better, and I think it maintains better ground orientation, which is something that I thing G4 does best. I love the water effects in Phoenix. Also, Phoenix seems more proactive in upgrading. AFPD is getting a little stale, IMHO. I could not really get into inverted with AFPD, but I'm having some success with Phoenix. I haven't tried in real life, so I hope it "transfers", will find out when the weather here warms up and I get my real life thumbs back in action. LOL.
Graphics are pretty close in both sims. I'd have a hard time giving the edge to either, aside from the water in AFPD. Phoenix seems a bit less resource hungry.
Hope that helps!

Ahh ok, thanks for the comparison. I agree that AFPD is getting a little stale and they are less eager to make solid improvements.

I picked up a used copy of Phoenix on Ebay and I'm glad I did. JesusFreak, I agree with your comparison between AFPD and Phoenix. I give Phoenix the edge in heli's because there's a lot more to do than just fly in a photo world. I like the little features like random failures, online play, etc. I don't think I'll sell AFPD, probably keep it for planes, but definitely happy with my decision to pick up Phoenix too.
