Just finished my new landing gear and thought I would start a thread on mods and customising the gaui as I'm keen to see what others are doing to personalise their helis
I always thought the original gear looked too small and narrow for the heli so I decided to fit the newer trex 600 landing gear and skids. I made an aluminium base plate that screws to the original landing gear mounts and allows the new gear to be spaced a little further apart to look more in proportion. Also took about 35mm off the length of the trex skids. I also have a 400mm flybar and tail servo mount from the trex as well.

Here's mine...
Trex 600 tail system. I broke the GAUI tail and decided to put on the 600 tail: boom, tailcase, slider, shaft, grips, fins and belt. I tested it but had bad blowouts but I think that will be fixed when I get a new GAUI belt in.

I'm jealous now - I have to get a set of those metal grips damn they look good (and I want to bump up my headspeed). Pics look good keep them coming.
Anyone have canopy mods or custom canopies?

This was posted already, but here is my tail mod.
I modded my Hurricane's tail with the HT tail gearbox and tailrotor parts that were originally for the TT E550/Raptor 30.
The mod consist mainly of modifying the tailboom to be the same thickness as the Raptor part. This was easily done by starting with the original Gaui long boom and cutting it to the correct lenght for the short belt and the differrent gearbox dimensions. Take the offcut and split it lenghtwise to double up on the original boom. Original Gaui tailshaft and pulley spaced to fit.

Then drilling the boom crosswise to fit the retaining bolt and clamp it to the Gaui boom.

The pushrod is more to the rightside than the original Gaui, so I had to mod the tail pushrod, by using the Gaui tail bellcrank and a carbon pushrod. The pushrod would rub against the tail support bracket, but carefull alignment of the bellcrack allowed sufficient clearance. (pushrod is 4mm/2mm carbon rod with ends glued in)

The same method can be used to fit the Kasama tail for the Raptor 30/E550 to the Hurricane.

Very neat aluminium plate - looks CNC cut - how did you do it? Are you selling them?

The plate was cnc laser cut (lucky enough to have one at my work) and has some threaded inserts pressed in for the trex gear to bolt up to. I'm not selling them but am quite happy to email a drawing and dxf file for this plate if anyone wants to make one. The plate could be milled, laser cut, punched, cnc routed or hand routed if you have a steady hand - mines aluminium but no reason why it couldn't be perspex or similar plastic Just drop me a pm and I'll send them through.

I'm using the new version of Rex600 tail blade holders and also tested Rex600 tail blades... they have a lot of power :)
