The main idea of the concept is to use universal LiPo battery packs for different size helis. The first task - to find good balance between power and weight of battery. After analysing LiPo market and some calculations I found out that using Lepton battery packs is good idea for my concept. Lepton packs are compact enough to be placed anywere on big heli (good for heli balancing), not so heavy, very good protected by plastic case and containes good selected elements made by KOKAM. After I made my choice, the main goal was to check my calculations on practice and prove myself that Lepton packs have enough power for 50 and 90 size helis. Now it`s proved.

Why I converted HIROBO?
Honestly speaking I had both Eagle and Sceadoo in nitro version before, but not so many helis have enough space between frames to place good motor and motormouht. 90-size E-heli is not a toy and everything must be strong and reliable. Finaly HIROBO carbon frame helis appear as very convenient for converting into electro.
But HIROBO helis are relatively heavy and it`s the real problem. I fought hard for each and any gramm,
while assembling.
As a result, I can make 12 flights on Lepton, or 6 flights on Sceadoo, or 4 flights on Eagle, or mixed ....without any charging in the field.

ok, I reloaded my blog with your new pics.
The plettenberg is beautyfull but very big. My Actro is more thick.
Why the plettenberg, there is Actro, Neu, or others ? Only for the power or other ?
And the controller, why CC110HV ?
good night ;)

Eagle have hard fixed distance 53.5mm (due to inner aluminium frame) between main shaft axis and motor shaft axis (3 upper motor bearings). Result in we have only two possible gear ratios using Hirobo stock gears (95T : 12T = 7.92 and 97T : 10T = 9.7). Consequently, KV (520) is the main reason to use unique Pletty motor for unique Eagle heli in 12S setup. Speaking about color - they made for each other! ;)
I like CC and HV-110 fits heli frames very good.

Hi Paul,
Great conversion. I am planning to do the same with my EX-II-WC. The problem I face is how to attach the pinion to the motor-shaft? Do you have any close-up photo's of your pinion attachement?
Thanks in advance.

The first pinion was unsuccessfull because of incorrect tooth shape and very soft steel, but can be used as a sample. Second one was made from two parts: 1 - hub-adapter (see sketch), 2 - partly cutted Hirobo original pinion (black metall on the last photo). Parts was connected by hot method. Motor shaft was also cutted to fit hub exactly ( including conic part ). Final job ( second pinion ) was made and assembled by professional.
If use 97T main gear and 10T pinion - be sure that pinion and main gear have same ( complimentary ) tooth profile - Hirobo have 3 kinds of tooth profile for different generationes of helis. Ask your Hirobo dealer to make double-check before ordering!

Good idea, but:
- no upper motor shaft support
- motormount seems not strong enough to transfer up to 2 kW from main frame to rotor.

Both Eagle 3 WC & Sceadoo E- conversions were successfully tested with new powerfull Kokam - Plettenberg 4000 mAh 30C batteryes last weekend, using 3X4S=12S for Eagle & 2X4S=8S for Sceadoo.
