View Full Version : Mini pred esc problem
Ok so when i push my throttle up to take off normally the motor will spin for 2-3seconds then cut out, sometimes when i do this it will spin up and hover for a few seconds maybe 20 or so then it will lose power and come down, also the gyro will beep randomly like it does when ive connected the battery for the first time but the battery is already connect, im at a complete loss here and dont really want to fork out for a new esc if thats not the problem.

Sounds like your battery pack may not be of a high enough C rating.
I think you may not find much support here for that heli because it is not really a heli from the mother company - Century Helicopter Products here in the USA.
It seems it is a small electric heli made by a different company then Century and is imported into the UK by the same company that also imports the true Century helicopters into your country.
So for help on it, I would suggest that you check with the UK importer of the heli.
Note: they also import other helis that are not made by Century Helicopter Products and many mistakenly think they are.
P.S. I am assuming from your inquiry that you are from the U.K.

Hey,
Check your battery and motor connectors. Twice now I have had a play with relatively new Mini Preds straight from the box and one of the battery connectors was not soldered on securely enough. Hence as I disconnected the battery the connector came off in my hand.
From what your telling us it seems the ESC is shutting down and rebooting, that is the beeping sound you are hearing each time as it pulses the motor. The gyro does not have a facility to beep unlike the motor.
It maybe that a connector is loose, if so then with the help of a soldering iron or small blow torch and some solder you'll be away again. Failing that it could be an ESC problem that will need replacing.
Depending on how old the model is and if you can provide a receipt it may be changed under warrenty. However if it is a little older, seen to be mis-used etc. then this wont be the case.
In the worst case scenario ESC's can be picked up pretty cheaply and if that fixes the problem then its money well spent, but you may feel happier seeking experienced help before commiting to buy.
CenturyUK I am sure will be willing to offer help if you are local enough to call & arrange a time to pop in, or even myself based in Northants. I can help identify the problem one day.
.
well just to let you know it was nothing to do with the ESC the motor was dying, replaced the motor and its all good :)
