Has anyone successfully done this?

i already have a hirobo .30 scale uh-1b and wanted to get another scale heli.i decided the hirobo lama(thanks heliproz) would be my best route for a few reasons. I also got the mrb III rotorhead so this gave me a spare head system that would fit my uh-1b and if something bad shud happen to the mrb III i could always install the original head,

so i had a few old airplane engines from years ago kickin around and thought one would fit/work for this kit.for my uh-1b i bought a os.37 and did'nt bother trying my others.
i bought the 50 size engine mounts and flywheel.tried every possible combination of mounts and nothin wants to line up properly.

first engine(first 2 pics)....magnum pro .45,new never been run.
holes in frame don't line up
engine is too tight, fan hits frame, engine is against bottom metal bracket so it can't come down.

second engine,os .50 fsr, maybe 6 tanks of fuel run through it.
mounting holes in mount's don't line up
clutch out of alingnment, egine is up against front of frame
not enough room to even get the bottom metal mounting bracket installed, engine sticks too far out of the bottom

spent the last 2 hours trying to get something to work.i really did'nt wanna spend the 150-200 dollars right now on a new heli engine but i really think that wud be my easiest solution.

thanks for any idea's.

Even if you do get it to fit and work, I think you wil have cooling and reliability problems.

I pretty much come to the same conclusion.ordered a os .37.

I tried it on my shuttle back in the say with an old OS 45. The engine was originally in a Mantis. (really old fixed pitch heli from the early 80's) Gobs of power in the shuttle.....for about 4 flights, then it melted.

Ditto. You really need the heli engines for the larger heads. More fins + better cooling.
