What do you guys do with your battery mount? Do you just place the battery between the frames?

I have seen people "upgrading" their Gaui 200 with a battery tray like on the bigger helis, making room for slightly bigger batteries.

Advice please? Pictures perhaps? :YeaBaby:

Here is my mount, I like using wide packs with high c ratings, and gets the cg up a little :) Just cut a piece of thin aluminum, and bend to shape.... with tabs on the front, and a hole drilled on the other end for a zip tie to secure. It works really well, no vibration, plenty sturdy.

WOW! you have your ESC right on top of the RX, are you not having lockout etc???

no issues so far :) I was really scared of having the esc, rx, gyro and all of the wires jammed so close together, but so far so good. It was really tail heavy so tried to put everything that I could up front, now the cg is just right.

thanks rotorhead, it sure doesn't feel like good heliiing, but glad to hear that someone else thinks so lol.... I've had all sorts of issues with my gauis, but all mechanical, except for once the tail servo burnt out... just never had a electronic glitch or lockout :) now where are my woodies to knock on?

Thanks a lot for your wonderful pictures. I wish somebody would produce a battery mount like yours - ready to buy.

What batteries do you use, both when it comes to capacity and physical dimensions?

Thanks a million

The mount is an easy mod... all you need is small sheet of very thin aluminum, which you can cut with regular scrissors, bent to shape... not much to it, much eaier than it looks.... seriously takes 5 mins. It adds about 3g to the weight, the aluminum is really thin and easy to bend, was afraid that it would be too flimsy or cause vibrations, but no issues so far.

main batteries that I use
2s thunder power 910 16c
2s mega power 850 12c

Have also tried 2s cheap common sense rc & eflite. They work great as well, just lower head speed.

I have to hand it to you Crabfu, this is exactly what the heli needed, i also made one similar to yours. For lipos i use the super skids 850 18C packs so they are to wide for the frame. (fp packs). once again, great idea....

After getting some ideas from you guys, here's what I have done...

I've also created a 1:1 pdf drawing that can be used as a template for creating this mount.

Since you brought it up... what about the CG? I am still a bit tail heavy [static], no matter what battery pack I use. I have a TP1320 that weighs in at 61g and I'm still tail heavy. My AUW with the TP1320 an no canopy is 260g. I can easily compensate for the tail heaviness by trimmng a bit of down elevator, but I cannot get the static CG correct.

Ideas???

i will have to post a pic hanging by the flybar, you;d think with that 401 up front like that and that large of a battery. you would have no problems.

i am also using the lightweight canopy too. (i made holes to space it more forward for more room!)

EDIT: maybe if you flipped the skids around you might just get the shift in weight you need. they look backward to me!

and i think the woodies shaved a bit off as i am at 268 grams now. but they use more battery power, like most have experienced.

Perhaps a easy way to go with the orginal T-rex 450 Battery Mounting Plate:) Do anyone have the size of the Gaui 800mAh?
