I have the settings for rate mode real good. Stays planted with no trim.
When I switch to HH, I get a slight left drift.
How do I fix this?
If I trim it out it either goes right or left. I only notice it when I am looking for it in hover....BUT IT IS THERE and it is driving me nuts.

what's your gain at? have you tried adjusting it down a bit? what's the distance on your tail servo linkage horn from link to horn screw? just a few ideas.

gain is at 77%
it is a 9254 servo.
I don't understand why rate mode holds and HH tends to drift

Do you have any trim dialed in to the rudder channel? If so, there's your issue. The 401 will see that trim as a rudder input.

no trim what so ever

Is this the Raptor?
What is your limit pot set to? How far out on the servo arm is the linkage mounted? Where and how is your gyro sensor mounted? Do you see vibration in the fins? (high speed vibration will turn the top of the fin into a blur)

Try adjusting your chanell 5 endpoints down if they are at 100%. If you are using a 401 it is recomended to start @ 60 on the endpoints for each side.

Hi there.
When you set it HeadingHold and hover it and gets the drift; Does the LED on the 401 lit up solid or does it blink in any way?

I don't mean to hijack the thread. I was searching for this issue. I had a recent crash and I noticed that ever since then when I power-up, the gyro initializes and I get a solid red light, but it blinks when I start flying. (I'm not sure it it did this before the crash or not, but I didn't notice it.) Does the blinking mean the gyro is broken?

If it comes on solid then starts blinking it means its getting rudder input. If you are sure its not you doing it with the rudder stick, then make sure your rudder trim is the same in all flight modes, some radios, like the dx7 store trim inputs for each flight mode.
