You'd think Gaui would do something about this one way bearing problem. I just finished building my brand new 550. Took it outside today for a test and didn't get 2 seconds into spool up before the one way bearing gear let go and now slips on the bearing. How difficult is it for Gaui to fix this. Sure I can take it apart and put lock-tite on it. Maybe it'll work, maybe it won't. I don't think I should have to do this at all. I would be really pissed if I was off the ground and crashed because of this problem. Grrrrrrr.

they did. the newer kits have a 20t gear with an 8mm shaft, the older kits have a 19t gear with a 6mm (?) shaft. i had to remove the OWB and scuff it up with steel wool, then fasten it with green locktite.

I just got my kit last week and had to wait til it came in stock from Gaui so I don't know how much newer a kit I could get? I tried the green lock-tite trick. I'll see tomorrow if it holds.

i did the green loctite too...if your doing any had collective moves or loading the main rotor up alot you are going to want to get the 20T auto gear...youll be much happier in the long run.

wasout the other day and one the first flight the motor would just spin....the OWb was obviously not engaging...
I had it in TH and flipped to norm and had the throtle up a little when it did this...I figured "oh crap" ruined the OWB...but when I started from a dead stop it engaged every time...so i'm hoping it's OK...but the next order will have the new 20T OWB on it for sure...

Ive ordered several items from them and never had a problem...and they are right up there in Mass with you...so shipping should be cheap and fast...
Redi heli seems to be one of the HS of choice....and i have never had a problem with them either...and John is the main US importer of the 550 so he is usually involved in major problems...and helps out a lot.

I bought some stuff from ReadyHeli, some from HeliDirect. Helidirect simply had the 550 kits in stock before readyheli. Helidirect does get to me the next day if I order before 4. Not a bad deal!

ONly problem, if you live in Mass you have to pay sales tax.
I have had good luck with HD, not as good as RH, but still OK. I ordered a set of 425 FG blades. After having trbouel trying to balance them I found one blade was 425mm, the other was 420mm. I called them, and even though they were out of stck, they managed to find a set and get them out to me.

i've heard a few stories about helidirect, but it was all 2nd hand and not too reliable. i ordered a z20 980kv from them yesterday and only had to pay $17 for overnight shipping. i'm drooling over the motor right this second. so, helidirect has my respect so far. but i'll still use readyheli first, so long as ready has the items i'm looking for.

HeliDirect sent me a new one way bearing yesterday, I have it already! They are great to deal with. I put green lock-tite on the bearing and it's holding so far. I'm loving this heli so much!!! I can't wait til it warms up so I can really start flying!
My z20 is great, plenty of power for my hover practice and long flights!
