I have just recently set up my 600n pro with the G770/8900 combo. i had a problem at first of the whole heli shaking violently after about a minute or two of hovering. we lowered the gain to about 30% and it is a ton better. when i fly it does great 99% of the time, but about once or twice every tank the tail will start twitching pretty bad when making a turn.
i had a lot of help setting this up and don't know a whole lot about the DX7 settings yet. should i lower the gain even farther? is there something else wrong? i have heard this gyro is pretty different to set up and the two guys that helped me had never set one up...they just did it off of how it felt. we haven't messed with the dial on the gyro just the gain on the DX7. also, do you have to adjust rate at all if you don't fly with rate? would your rate setting be similar to the HH setting or not?
sorry for the newbie questions, i have searched and done some reading on this setup but it is all kind of over my head.

thanks

first off, if you have not touched the dial on the gyro, you haven't set it up properly.
Follow the instructions in the gyro, they are in there for the 600N, and are a default JR/Spektrum setup.
If you have not put an inline voltage regulator between the servo and gyro, you will get intermittent wag, you will also get wag from too rich or too lean.
If you've placed the gyro over the transmission bearings for the tail, you *may* be getting a little RF as a result, try moving the unit so you have 1/4" clear between the box and the edge of the bearing.
Check your voltage too, I noticed mine were acting up above 5.6v..

You have way too much gain,i use 24% on mine. make sure the engine is tuned good or it will kick because it is a sensitive gyro. Mine didn't really like the 95mm align carbon blades,i put some smaller 92mm rotortechs on mine.DOUG

we just leaned it out from the original break in so the motor is tunned and running within range with a temp gun. the gyro is mounted on the foam tape that it came with and also on the gyro mount above the front servos. i do have a stepdown and it is testing out at 5.21v after stepdown. i think i will continue to drop the gain another 4-8 points and maybe that will smooth it out.
are you guys setting anything in rate mode or not?

and you should make sure that the little flip switch on the gyro is set to high for your digital servo, if it ain't you will probably have some tail wag. Then I would recommend you find someone to help you with the initial tail setup which should be setup in rate mode so you can make sure that you got equal travel / pitch on the tail rotor to both sides and limit the max travel via the little screw on the gyro. From what you wrote I 'm not sure that you've done that ? You will know that you are in rate mode when moving and then releasing the rudder stick makes the tail pitch slider return to the center position, if it doesn't return to center position but only moves slightly back you know that you are in HH mode.

Read
The
F'n
Manual
:):):)
You need to setup in rate mode, or You will likely end up with a drift, faster piro in one direction, and your milk will sour in the jug.

the switch on the gyro is set to high. i did read the manual. as i said before, i am very new to this setup stuff and none of that makes any sense to me. i will take to manual to the guy whol helped me set it up and i am sure he can help me. thanks for all the help!

I am running gain of 23% on the DX7 ATV page. Any more an it wags from a turn into the wind. I set mine up in rate mode so that the travel is equal and I have never had any drift in over 80 flights. 12mm on the ball link, 150% endpoints, travel pot on the gyro maxed then wound back to stop binding. Also have 75% on the dual rates (for piro speed).

Theres no need to set it up in rate mode unless you intend to fly in rate mode,it does nothing to help the set up at all. Your problem right now is too much gain.

I started with the gain recommended in the G770 manual for the 600N (62% on a 0 to 50 scale = 24% on a -100 to +100 scale) and it seems to hold well without wagging.

Rudd L150% R150% ATV
Gain +22% - 22% (using Gear switch)
Servo horn 11mm (Stock round)
D/R 75% - Control the speed of rotation(increase D/R if u want faster tail rotation)
EXP 40%
This gyro is rock solid.

Actually IMO it does help you to set up your max travel and tailslide center, otherwise your tailpitch won't be at center when you release the rudder stick which will make it hard to adjust your center position and pushrod length.

ok, i set mine up with gain 23%/23%, 150%/150%, D/R is 75%. i just flew two tanks through it and didn't have any tail problems. it was only 10mph winds though so i will have to try again in some higher winds.
i do notice that my tail slider goes all the way towards the blade but has just a tad further that it can travel. i will have my heli buddy help me straighten that out. thanks for all your help guys.

Set the gain to 0% gain
I set the servo arm at 90 degrees and the bellcrank in the frames at 90 degrees, then centered the tailslider by adjusting the pusrod length. Then adjust the endpoints.
