Well I was using my Blade CX canopy, and thought.... why not the other half as well? So here is a test flight video and some pics.
The pics looks better than it actually is... cx canopy is quite flimsy, and cracked in some places as I was cutting it with lexan scissors. The horizontal stabilizers also comes really close to the tail blades, and it's flimsy so that's a bit of a concern as well. I had to cut holes for the servo, a smaller one would probably fit in just fine without doing so. I sliced the bottom of it to fit everything in, so didn't have to detach anything but the landing gear and boom braces. I then just scotched taped everything back together. It's a bit breezy today, in the test flight video, I did notice it getting pushed around a bit by the wind, more so than without the fuselage, but actually not as bad as I thought. The back end of the fuse is quite light, so it's not adding any noticeable weight, not enough for my stupid thumbs to tell. I am more worried about the wind and the tail not able to fight the battle well enough, so not sure if I'll keep it on, need to test it out more... but looks cool though :)

I can post the remains if you like? Doesn't hold up well in a blade strike. Neither did the CF tail boom.
Here's a post with the canopy. Tail didn't last too long.

Did you ever put the back end of the cx fuselage on?
How did the boom strike happen? I've been surprised with how flexy the plastic blades are, that even with my bad collective management and ugly flips and into inverted, that I haven't gotten one yet.... so just wondering how you did it.

I had the tail section on Gaui 200 #2. I have three different models set for each 200 on my DX7. When you switch between models on the DX7 you hold the left two buttons upon powering on the TX. Works fine 99% of the time. When I was selecting from model 5 to model 8 for Gaui #2 I accidently adjusted the swash type from 120 to 180 without noticing. For those of you with a DX7 and multiple models perhaps you've had the same problem. So, when I fired up the CX2 cladded Gaui 200 #2 the flight was short and ugly. The fact that it was in my livingroom didn't help much either. Anyway, the heli came up about two feet when I noticed it had a mind of it's own. Too late. It was already sliding left towards my leg. I hit throttle hold, dropped the stick and tried to get my leg out of the way. The resulting crash left a knot on my right leg and a nasty bruise.
The damage to the heli was worse than the crash vid I posted. Blade grips, links, CF tail boom, CX2 canopy and tail fuse., tail rotors, slider linkage and so on and so on.
Long story short, that's the only blade strike I've had. Wasn't from flying it was from doing the chicken dance on my right leg.

wow sorry to hear that buzz.... glad to hear that it didn't cause more damage than just your bruise though, could have been worse.... seen your video with a nice tv and guitar, at least your bruise will heal :)

I don't always have bad luck. Although thinking about some of my post would make it seem that way. I tend to push the envelope a lot for my skills.

I think I'm in your camp too buzz, I push myself more with the gaui than my other bigger helis, and have crash a few times because I was doing something before I was ready. It's just so hard to be intimidated by a heli that can sit on one palm.... even if the head speed is super high, and act like a barely tamed beast waiting to get loose :)

I'm gonna designate one of mine to official "test heli" May God rest it's soul.

Sweet.... does that mean you're going to be a guinea pig for the shaft drive tail? what else is in cue in the lab?

I havent ordered one yet. I'm not having problems with the tail. When Readyheli gets them in stock I'll get the tube tail. I almost ordered one from Flying-hobby but I'm more than leary when it comes to a new (for me) online place not to mention overseas.
Not much in the lab. I have a couple of Trex 450 fuses I've been slowly tinkering with and enough Gaui parts to probably build another one but, I think as soon as the weather breaks and I can get the Gaui 200's outside I'm gonna be learning and crashing a lot. Would't a tadem 200 be sweet though? Hmm.....
