Can a 12 channel xmitter bind to a 7 channel rcvr?

Dumb newbie question - I'm currently running the Futaba 7-Channel 2.4GHz System. Later this year I want to upgrade to the 12-Channel 2048 2.4GHz model. At that point will the new radio bind to my existing 7 channel receiver(s), or will I need to replace all the receivers with the 12-channel equivalent?

Of course.

Today people with the 7 channel DX7 transmitter is using the 6 channel AR6100 receiver.

Be carefull with that advice, while it applies to Spectrum it may not always apply to Futaba.

http://2.4gigahertz.com/modules/modules-receivers.html has a reciever compatability chart, I'd check before making assumptions.

Thanks. Oddly enough it looks like it's not compatible. My current receiver is a R617FS and that model is not compatible with the TM14 module (equivalent to the 12FG.)

Its cool. Had I not known about that chart and that all FAAST wern't compatable I would have said the same thing :D

These are the recievers that will work with the TM 14 2.4 ghz module

R606FS
R616FFM
R607FS
R617FS
R608FS
R6014FS

The 8 channel and 14 channel the transmitter will be set to Multi Channel Mode
For the other receivers the transmitter will be set to 7 channel model.
This is done via the frequency control menu in the transmitter when a 2.4 ghz module is used the 12 and 14 channels radios.

I have 2 R617FS receivers running with a 12FG and TM14 module.
No problems here.
