I don't whether I'm living right or if I'm snake bit. We have great flying weather here today, light winds mid 40s temps. So I plan on running through a battery at lunch. So I'm hovering, it's flying well and I'm getting ready to fly it around a little. All of a sudden, it pitches back and I get a pretty good tail blade strike. I spool it down, check it out and decide it's OK. Spool it back up, get to mid stick, bring it up to liftoff and the blades are tilting like I'm holding up ELE. So, spool it down again, put it in throttle hold and check the control inputs. Guess what, the elevator servo is dead.

Lucky I was in hover, screwed that I don't get to fly on a nice day. Lucky I still have the heli in one piece.

I'm sorry that you had that experience, however, I have seen lots of guys
having the same problems that you had. You were very lucky not to have
buried the heli deep in the ground, or worse, hit yourself.

If you have read much, you have seen that the servos seem to be the 'weakest link'
in this otherwise nice heli.

I replaced all my servos with the JR performance pack which has 3 DS285's and a
3400G for the tail. Cost about $160. Took a Sat afternoon to swap them out.

MUCH better servos......money well spent.

You might want to consider this as an option.

watch what you say since upgrading servos mean we dont know how to fly and take the easyway out in stead of fighting the stock servo
ssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhhhhh
thier listening

so buy what you feel is right DS285, hs65, stock, or a few rubberbands its your heli and do with it what you deem worth the money

so im not telling you its mandatory to change from stock
but a thought

no mater what you du you have to replace something to get back in the air

i like knowing my UPGRADED servos are more likely to work
not that the stock arent its just peace of mind

Just to clarify, the DSP75 is not the stock servo, it's the Spektrum programmable digital servo, the E-Flite DS75H just happened to be int he same case and use the same gears. Hmmm. The Spektrum servo is a much better servo. (other than the gears being the weak link.)

Contrary to the stripped gears you'd expect, the servo just died. Gears are fine. I have a set of DS285 servos I can put in, but, for right now, I like the way it flies with the DSP75s.

Also, it took about an hour to put in a new servo and setup up the heli. I flew it again tonight (2 flights) Actually flew it around a little.
