Hello all,

While checking my Raptor 30 for linkage and tail rotor pushrod binding I noticed the tail rotor push rod would come in contact with the main body frame if I moved the tail beyond a certian point, the push rod would bend up. So I changed the End Points to 25% L/R which stopped the binding. While I was away from home with plenty of time to read I found out that the gyro can be set to do the same thing. ( Futaba 401 )

Having done this I noticed the tail does not as respond as quickly as it used to.

Should I reset the radio to 100% End Points and then try to adjust through the Gyro or does the gyro gain need to be changed?

Thanx in advance!

This is correct the travel adjustment on the gyro is what you use to stop all interference.
This is because it is the gyro travel adjustment that tells the gyro to never go past this point. In normal flying the gyro can and does exceed the travel that is available in the transmitter to maintain control of the tail.
The transmitter end points will set how fast the tail responds.

Flyinfool,

Thanx for the info. I reset the end points and made the adjustment on the gyro. Now I'll give it a try tomorrow.

In the instructions it tells you to hold rudder fully one way(So the pitch slider moves towards the boom) on the radio. End points at %100 and adjust the pot on the gyro so the linkage does not bind and give max travel. Also while in normal mode (Gyro) if there is any drift you need to adjust the lenght of the rod until heli does not turn either way.DO NOT PUT ANY TRIM IN, THIS WILL AFFECT THE HEADING HOLD.This works fine on mine

Markelly,

I had things pretty messed up and I learned to do one thing at a time. So I went back to the original settings and then reread the instruction manual. I ended up resetting the endpoints on the radio to 100% and then used the gyro to limit the travel of the servo. I had another issue that I was able to fix after I got the endpoints right.

Thanks for you input.

Ed
