I'm starting to put together a list of what I need to get for a H550.. thinking of the CF version and looking at the deals they have on Flying-Hobby.. one deal has a Gaui gyro listed.. has anyone ever heard of that gyro before? is it any good?? if it sucks, then I'll either get the gy401 or the 2100. Although I'm not really into 3D. I prefer more sport flying with a few simple loops and rolls added in with 8's and circuits...

is the gaui digital heading hold gyro the one you're refering to? if so i don't think it's been out long enough to say really. i think there is maybe one person here on the freak who's flown one. my gut says if it's made by gaui, it's likely good, but you can't go wrong with a 401/9254 combo.

I test flew (only hover) the new gyro on a Trex 450 that did not have a gyro. Unfortunately there were some tail vibration to do anything else. I have a Beam with 2100 with 9650. I'll take the 2100 and test the new Gaui gyro on it and let you know.

It gives you a green led for H-H and red for Rate vs solid red and blinking red on 401.

Hmmmm... if the gyro doesn't suck.. this might be an option for me to keep the cost down a bit so I can get the z20a-980...

I am sure it can be made to work just may take longer to set up correctly

there are many people who use the Telebee HH with good effect.

however if funds allow i would go for a Spartan 760!!

Hmmm.. $69.00 for a gyro to cut the cost OR $220.. for the spartan... yeah.,.. the spartan is real nice but ouch.. the price is a killer.. I think for my skill level and type of flying I want.. the Gaui gyro will work.. at least I hope it does :D guess we'll know once Red gives it a shot..

You cannot go past a 401 for simplicity, reliability, robustness and proven performance. The 2100 is good but much, much more sensitive to vibration and has been a PITA to me on three different helis. The 401 drops in, a quick twiddle and your done and it stays done. The 2100 needs retuning after a crash or if anything mechanical changes on your heli.

I have one of the new RC-TEK G730 gyros which looks like a shrunken 401. It has had good reviews but I have yet to fly it. Certainly worth considering if you want a 401 but are on a budget.

The Spartan gyros are reputed to be very good but unless you are an extreme 3D pilot I doubt the performance difference from a 401, G730 or L2100T would be detectable or useful.

wow.. great price on both.. It's going to be a few months before I can afford to buy my 550, if you still have it in a few months I'll get it from you. if not, then whoever gets it is getting a good deal on it... Hmm.. maybe I can sell one of my kids and get the heli sooner...naaa.. no one in their right mind would buy them.. in fact I'd have to pay them to take them..

I am running a 2100T and 9254 and the tail is really solid. I did replace the control rod with a CF one, but this is my second 2100T and it was good to go almost immediatley. I rekon that if there are no problems with the heli I could have the 2100T up and running in 15 min. Just bear in mind that they really like a fast servo.

I just ordered the Hurricane 550 Carbon Version. Is anyone using or tried the Solid-G from Curtis Youngblood with the Futaba 9254?
