I have a 600N pro and have noticed alot of vibration in the tail during hover. Would the tail rotor blades be out of balance that much from new or do you really need to balance them? Or could it be anything else? It seems to be more a virtical vibration on the tail. My 611 seems to be performing ok apart from the odd wag.
Everything seems to be ok so i feel it must be the blades...any other suggestions and whats the best thing to use on any out of balanced tail rotor to balance?

I'm building a pro as well and I've read that the spacing on the torque tube is a bit critical. Seems that the bearing shouldn't be right in the middle, rather offset one way?? How did you space yours? Some guys also put in an extra bearing support.

i am also having quite a bit of vibration in hover. the skids and the tail are vibrating pretty good. i did offset the bearing in the tail. i am running the stock plastic unbalanced fan, i have a new metal align fan that i just installed the magnets on but can't find a good way to balance it...hopefully that will cure most of the vibes.....?

I had to put quite a few wraps of tape on one of the tail blades to get them to balance. I have the Black carbon blades that came in the kit.
Not that hard to balance, I used a 450 flybar to check CG and a 450 blade balancer to make them the same weight.
No vibes but I am using a second TT bearing.

is everyone spending $25 to balance the $20 fan? Is there not some cheapy homemade way to just get it close enough?:D

It also comes in handy for balancing blades.

I used this one... http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXHY61&P=ML ...little cheaper. I also used the metal fan, but even that one needed quite a bit of work to get it balanced. Shaved off material just using a dremel tool.

Same here, as you can see below.

Hmm, shouldn't the fan be balanced with the clutch shoes fitted ? I know the mighty finless did it without but wont fitting the shoes after throw the balance back out?

Yes, it should. My tail is quite distinct in flight (not "blurry"), so I think my vibration levels are about as low as I can make them.

i noticed my canopy vibrating too today so i'm thinking its got to be fan and the tail is amplfying the fan vibration.
I just ordered a metal fan tonight so i'll whip the engine out and shave a way
on another note, i had my first dead stick when i was at about 30ft...auto'd it down ok but im thinking i should get a carb smart? are they any good?

There are several threads on the subject (just do a search for "carbsmart") and I've never seen a negative comment. In fact, everybody who has one seems to love it. It's on my list of future upgrades; I want to learn how to properly tune a nitro engine first and I don't want the CarbSmart around as a crutch just yet.
