OMG 21 mph winds with 29 mph gusts!
I know I'm stupid, but atleast I didn't crash. This is what lead me to the head speed/pitch idea
Just made tonight.

Yeah I figured out how to post you tube vids too :)

Hey - not bad. I think you could fix what you are talking about with a 0-40-65-80-100 curve in normal mode. It will keep your head speed up when you go that low with the throttle collective. In that much wind you get a lot of transitional lift, then the gust quits and you literally fall out of the sky. Picking up the head speed a little and having more power below 50% throttle will help a lot.

Duh!
Good point Mike, I thought I was being slick having pos 1 and 2 at zero, thats my whole prob right there!!!

Appears the winds are dying down. I'm gonna go test your throtle curve......

yes that was better, but still wanna try a steady head speed so the throtle basically only control pitch, need a calm day for a test If I am wrong I may not be able to land.

how about this set stunt so that the pitch curve starts at like 30%
that way u have solid head speed but not the -pitch

also when the wind gets to the rotor sys look for the rotor shutter wont tell you wich way but you know it coming

I've got a Phoenix 35 ESC coming that has a governor mode. That would do pretty much what you want with regards to constant head speed. I have a pretty good idea how to set it up and what rpm I want to run. Basically, I'll have constant speed from 1/4 stick to full stick in normal mode and full stick in idle up. I got a tach and I've tached the head now, so I have a pretty good idea what I want. 2600rpm in normal and 2900rpm in idle up.

Got ya thinkin'
I tached the head again to night just to double check the head speed. How about 3100 in normal and 3600 in idleup. You get a better reading in 2 blade mode than 3 blade mode.:DOH

Same winds tonight! I'm getting better though, I actually moved around like the first vid with adjustments of course.
Sokal - Were you saying I could do better due to the lack of action? I was trying to move slow to show newbs like me it can be done. I think zipping arround is easier and I do, but I don't have as much room as you think. I normally move faster than that though, weather has been sucking here lately when it calms a bit I will record and post some better vids.

Hey ski, I have a tach too and I would like to check my rpm's, how do u do it ?

Hopefully, you have 0* pitch at 1/2 stick. Crank up to 1/2 stick, walk up as close as you dare and point the track at the main blades. Take the reading and don't bump the stick.

WOW! still windy here so dont want to test my thing (although that is the main goal, to fly in the wind) BUT I was running 0-0-70-85-100 and with your suggestion I am getting MUCH longer flight times!
A 7 min battery, I just did 8 mins and when put on the charger (cellpro) showed 3.75 per cell so I could still have went longer.
Hey I am learning......and you guys are helping ALOT my idea may not be soooo good on flight times but still gonna persue it to see how it will hold up in gusty winds to see if bringing it down will be easier.
