...yesterday. Had to borrow a few ounces to top off the last tank of the day. Was about 34 degrees and winds at 5 -10 out here in SE Michigan. This pic looks like it has wings.
First heli T-Rex 600N. I believe in simulators....they work.

Awesome!!! Simulators are honestly worth there weight in Platinum. I was able to really impress some people at a smaller local club with little heli exposure with my flying. The best of all i only been flying 7 months at that time all because you can sit down an practice for 30 mn a night.
PS. I heard on the news (Friday Morning, 14th) MI is getting the warm air we had over here in WI yesterday (55 Degrees YESSS!!) get another gallon ready

Yesss...those sims are invaluable. I put in over 100 hours on the sim b4 I actually got the nerve to begin hovering my Bergen Gasser EB (which is what I learned on also). it really made learning this hobby much easier. I've been flying now for about 8 months or so and I still load up the ol sim daily for about 40 minutes in all. I'm even more confident in flying the 600N now. the sim is definitly a great place to start in my opinion. happy flyin!!!

jet22b,
It wasn't cold enough to bother my hands, and yes, that is a problem at times. I was enjoying myself to the point where I just ignored it anyway.
I hope you fellas out there in Washington are getting stick time.

EdgeCrusher,
Ya know, you are so right. That 50 degree sunny stuff arrived at around 11am here. Left work early (that was like pulling teeth) and loaded up the heli and a plank.
You betcha! I put the hurt on another gallon. Did some loops, rolls and backflips....and a whole lot of recovery maeuvers! Had to check my pants a couple times. Told my buddy to check his own....heard him grunt a few times behind me as he watched.
Something very valuable I learned today is when things are all screwed up and orientation is out the window....wait until you recover before you panic. Things are better that way. I tried panicing before I was out of trouble,.. made it too hard to fly. Besides, I don't like that warm sensation of emerging solids inbetween my back pockets. It's distracting and makes you need to be somewhere else right away.
