View Full Version : Futaba 7c timer is bound to throttle stick, not th. channel?

I'm experimenting with my new 7c's timer function, and bound the timer to throttle. When the throttle stick is above middle point, timer counts, below middle, timer stops.
But when in idle up mode, the same behaviour continues, the timer functions looks at the stick position, not the actual throttle value :(
This is not good for me now, because I just learned inverted hovering, and practicing. It means that almost half of my current flights are inverted, so using the timer as a low battery-land indicator will not be possible.
Does somebody know a way to make the timer to work with the actual throttle value, not the stick position?

I don't think it can. I use it that way one my planes, but not helis. It works better to assign it to a switch...as long as you gt in the habit of turning it on.

Thanks. I'm not good at remembering to turn on switches. Before that I should work on flipping idle up before going inverted first :P

i just set that function, and you can set it to a switch or to the throttle stick. i've got mine set so that once my T-stick is anywhere above zero the timer is counting. it'll be hard to explain how to do it, but if you go to pg 36 of the manual it explains how to set it to whatever switch/stick you want.

Yep, set it on throttle, channel 3 , arrow up, and it will start the timer at any throttle position above 0 throttle (all the way down.)

Yep, I set it on channel3, arrow up, but the timer counts only when the throttle stick is above midpoint, regardless of the flight mode. Which means it won't count when inverted. Below midpoint stops the timer, even in idle up. Stick functions just like a up/down switch, it does not care about the actual throttle value, only position of the stick. I wonder how you guys get it to work that way?
Today I assigned it to switch B, and used like that. Wasn't as hard as I expected :P

Here is how to set it so the timer activates above 0 throttle:
Go to timer.
Change SW to 3 with arrow pointing up.
Put throttle stick to 0, and then move it just barely off of 0.
Press and hold the scroll knob for 1 sec.
Now your timer will activate and count down whenever you are flying above 0 stick and shut off at 0. Hope this helps.

that's the procedure all right. weird thing, everytime i turn my tx off, the next time i use it i have to set the timer again, otherwise it's back in it's default position ie: timer turns on at above 1/2 stick. is this normal? do you all have to reset your timer position?

Since I never even take off in normal I set my timer to the idle up switch. As soon as I switch to idle up 1 or 2 the timer starts and runs no mater what position anything else is in.

Kevin R ... how do you tie the Timer to the flght mode switch ?

Select 'Timer' in the menu, then scroll down to 'SW' and use the dial to select your idle up switch (should be switch E on heli version). There will be several selections for switch E, just cycle through them until you get the timer running on the desired switch positions (you can see if it's selected on or off in the top right).
