hey guys
has anyone set up a ds760 yet, im in the prossess but am waiting on a part
in the instructions it states in the setup to set tail pitch at about 8degs. then in another section it says to do this if flying in rate mode
im will be flying in AVCS so do i set it with 8degs or at 0degs like normal?
thanks for any help

Center your servo, mount your servo arm vertically, slide the servo mount brackets on the boom until your tail blades are at approx. 8 degrees pitch. Done!

The reason to set up 8 degrees pitch is not for AVCS mode or for it to work any better. The reason you may want to do it is in the event that you accidently hit the switch to go into rate mode while your flying. Should that happen having 8 degrees of pitch will not cause the heli to piro when it does happen.

According to Angelos, you only need to set it up for rate mode if you planon using rate mode.
If you stay in heading hold mode, you can set it tail pitch slider centered fine.

Since you can setup individual left and right end points with the spartan you might as well have a few degrees for a rate mode setup just in case for some odd reason you were to end up in rate mode. If you are really lazy then yes center up the slider and enjoy.

Angelos.
What is your recomandation? Servo centered with pitch slider centered or servo centered with 8 degrees of pitch - and why?
Thanks

Not to speak for Angelos, but I believe the reason for the 8 degrees is that it is the amount approximately needed to overcome the torque of the MR. Of course, that is variable based upon factors such as your tail blade size, tail speed, etc. On most heli's I've set up, this is the amount normally built in to the tail with the slider set in the center of the tail shaft. This way you'll have an equal amount of travel/control in each direction. By setting it up in this manner, you'll give your gyro the best opportunity to perform as designed.
That said, when I installed my first ds760, I just ran through the setup w/o checking too closely and it worked like a charm. I don't remember having any issues when I flipped over to rate mode. Not that I do that often.

set up complete, had a frontyard hover and 1 test flight at oval today
bench setup was - slider pretty much center with a fraction of pos pitch, gain set at 75%
this was the first flight for a new motor, esc, battery test aswell as the gyro so had alot going on.
well after the first hovering and a few drops and punches i was amazed (the replaced 401 didnt hold this good), the tail did not move unless i told it to, and i hadnt even tuned it yet. it stayed like that while i sussed other things out with some test flying - no probs
stay tuned for review of my total set after a few more flights -TREX600 neu1910H/1y, 10s A123, CC HV85 ESC, spartan/S9254

75 gain sounds really high for the spartan, have you tried some lower values yet?

Yeah, that is high. I'll bet you'll see some wagging in ff or bf. No matter where I've set my gain, I've never seen it wag in a hover. Only in flight.

Mark, I use a pitch guage and set up all tail at 8 degrees, to all 450, 50 or 90, it works for all
