As those of you with Real Flight know, there is no Blade 400 model yet, I think they are working on it right now.

Until then here's what you can do to sim a b400.

Download the Trex 450 SE V2 found here:
http://knifeedge.com/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=3417

Import the Trex into RealFlight: Simulation>Import>RealFlight Archive, locate the new Trex model in the file menu and add it to your collection.

Load Trex 450 SE V2 and verify it works properly. If you want to use the DX6i controller, which I strongly recommend, please follow this guide by int2str:
DX6i on RealFlight - for Helicopters -> http://ironcreek.net/dx6i

Scolex, a member here recommended shortening the Flybar length to make the Trex 450 feel more like the B400, and in my opinion it really does feel more like the b400 after the change.

Here's the setting responsible for Flybar length once you have the Trex loaded and select Edit Aircraft, here's what you should be looking at (pass-through indicates this model will be used with the DX6i):

Change the setting from 12.50 to 4.54:

Save the model as a new aircraft, the Blade 400.

If you have any other input or suggestions for a temporary Blade 400 for RealFlight let us know.

There was someone else asking about that and I just answered him and told him the same thing but now I cant find what thread he was in. This is alot easier to do than the way I told him,,,, I said look for the setting, and that is all I could remember from when I did it. Thanks Greenbar0n

:cheersI have also played with just the weight of the paddles. Maybe we can combine the two and find what works until the master gets a model. Lets get crashing!

The more I flew the Trex 450 with a flybar length of 4.54, I noticed the roll is slower than the real b400. I think you're right about experimenting with weight also. Might change the flybar length closer to 8 and adjust weight.

What weight have you tried?

I've down loaded the T-Rex as well as other craft and cn't get it to run on the g-4 sim. Its on file in my computer and when I click on your T-rex file it automatically starts up the G-4 sim but the Rex is nowhere to be found not even in the custom aircraft menu. Sure want to know how to make it go.

Green I have been using around 3 I think it was. And sing you have to import it into inventory. I think its under file when you start it up.

Hey Guys,

I downloaded and imported the TREX 450SE V2 with no problems.
I played around with flybar length, collective pitch and paddle aileron-elevator deflection.
It still seemed twitchy to me.

So, I attempted to import the TREX XL to see if was any different. RF G4 said import successful but I cannot find it in the same folder or anywhere else. It won't let me import it again, I get a window that says something like you already have this color scheme or model...something like that.

Any idea where this new model could be?

Thanks.

I found (with my limited experience) that the Dolphin 3D .46 is the closest to the B400. Flew the 400 then went to the sim and flew through the selection of helis in it and the smaller and larger helis flew significantly different.

scolex,

I've been using the TREX 600 Microheli EA and found it to be really good. Maybe a little heavier or slower. Plus, because it's so big it's easier for me to see on the computer screen. It also spins uncontrollably when spooling up but it settles down when up to lift off speed.

I could not find the heli you mentioned above. Where is it exactly?

Thanks.

I found the Align TREX500CF EA and have been using it as well as the 450SE V2 with a slightly longer flybar and lower pitch ranges.

IMO the 500CF EA is very close to the feel of the Blade 400 without changing anything .

Thanks.:YeaBaby:

*hint* its spinning because you arent letting it get to full power before taking off. The tail rotor isnt going fast enough to counter the mains

There are several reviews of the download that state it spins, I think it's a programming flaw.

Anyway, I found the TREX 500 to be much better.

It actually only spins on spool up. Once it reaches higher head speed, just before liftoff, it stops spinning and flies great.

If you are talking about the download, it's free in the swap pages of www.knifeedge.com.

Thanks Wolfpackin, where are the "swap pages"? is that the forum?
So the 500CF is one of many models within a specific download?

I'm trying to figure out how the simulators work. They have one at the local hobby shop for around $200. I wasn't sure if the more affordable way is if there is a type of USB you connect to your transmitter from the computer then download software off that link you just sent me..?

Thanks again--

Sokal,

Thanks a lot for sharing your RealFlight Blade 400. I just started foward flight with mine. I have been flying counter clockwise turns for the most part. Right or clockwise turns are a bit more difficult for me. Your model is really close and it will help a lot.

Thanks again,

Rick

setting the flybar to 4.54 is way off:shock: took like 45 secs to do a flip LOL the regular trex450 on their is actually pretty close to blade400 if you have all the swash% maxed out with no binding
