View Full Version : NEWBIE NEEDS HELP WITH AXE CP!
hello everyone,
I'm new to R/C helicopters but I have been bitten hard! I bought an Axe CP a month ago. Instead of doing the right thing and learning how to hover, I tried to fly it right out of the box and guess what happened? One small gust of wind and BAM! I broke the swash plate, both main blades, bend the tail boom, broke the tail blade, and a few other parts.
After a few bucks and many new parts, I rebuilt the heli to spec plus a few new carbon fiber parts(tail boom and main blades) However it appears that when I throttle up (slowly of course) the pitch of the blade reverses and instead of gaining altitude it wants to do the complete opposite.
Can anyone help me out? I really want to learn how to fly but my heli won't work correctly. Any help would be great.
Thanks,
gkbk

check your radio you may have something reversed.

You need to learn how to crawl before you can walk... and never mind running.
Hovering is the basis of heli flight, it starts off in a hover and ends in a hover.
For starters you shouldn't even consider using carbon parts... that's a wast of money at this point of the game.
Instead of carbon parts, buy a sim and get the hang of hovering.. then flying. That's the best advice I can give so far.
Hi Jason,
Well, nothing is reversed on my radio. I'm starting to think that my linkages are not correct. It appears that when I throttle up my bird starts squatting towards to ground as if it wants to dig a hole. I just can't figure it out.
Thanks, Greg
Mike,
Not being able to hover isn't the problem. In fact I do have a sim for my PC that I use with my radio. I racked up about 15 hours, enough to take off, hover, and land. The issue is mechanical I believe. The carbon fiber parts were a result of my local shop not having OEM parts and me being impatient.
What I'm asking is, if it possible that I have the linkage from the blade grips to the flybar set incorrectly? As you know, when I throttle up, the center hub slides up and down the main shaft but instead of advancing up to pitch the blades for lift, it advances down pitching the blades for descent. Any advice?
Thanks,
Greg

when you throtle up the swash should go down. check to see if your blade grips are backwards. check all links.

Greg,
Sorry about the last post I gave.... Being in the section we're in on this thread and what I read in your post, I thought you were a true green newbie walk-in to helis.
Your question about the pitch: Just like Jason says, it has to be the blade grips (backwards). You MAY have reversed them while repairing after a wipe-out.... That has to be the problem.
Post a pic if you can... of the head.

no, when you throttle up, your swash should move up. your blades should tilt for positive pitch. i'd unplug both motors and operate the throttle stick. look closely and see what is going on.

check to make sure your blade grips aren't on backwards.
