Well its true, I just maidened her and what a machine! This is my first high voltage setup so I wanted to know if an average of 28 amps for hovering is about right with my setup.

This is my setup:
Logo 600 3D Vbar
BLS 451 swash servos and BLS 251 with voltage stepdown for the tail
AR7000
Western robotics 6 volt 5 amp BEC
Orbit 30-12 Heli Expert with 17T pinion
Power Jazz
5350 10S mah Evolites
600mm TST Vblades
105mm CY tail blades
The PJ is set to fixed mode with 70% in idle up. This gives a HS between 2300 and 2350. I flew for 6 minutes and the E-logger said I used about 3200 mah.
I did some hovering and FFF to get used to the Vstabi and it feels great so far. Now I have to get some flight time to tweak it.

Thanks,

Occy

Congratulations on the maiden, you have a really nice setup!

That head speed seems a bit too fast for a V-bar on 600mm blades though. I would bet a 14 or 15T pinion would be better to get around 2100 with the PJ set at 80-85%.

Congrats! it is an awesome machine i am sure you will love it.

Get that headspeed down to 2000-2100rpm! 2350 is wasted energy it really doesnt need it!

I agree with all the replies here. That headspeed is way too high, you're just wasting electrons. I suggest you make sure you dial it down to around 2100rpm and make sure you have +/- 13 or 14 degrees.

FWIW Tom and Max Kruzeberger run 2350rpm HS on their 600s, it is all about what kind of snap you want in flight mainly.

snap and headspeed are two different things all together when it comes to V-Bar. I run about 2100 and its as snappy as anything, only because i have very fast cyclic with the stop set up correct and its sharp as hell to fly! increasing headspeed only really increases collective punch, with 2350rpm your collective is going to be insanely fast and sharp, but with 2100 its not going to be as so. to be honest, its so sharp at 2100 with 14 degrees and more pitch, that i cant see it being necessary to run it faster.

My opinion of course, but id rather get a minute more flight time than have mega insane collective rather than insane collective!

Thanks for the replies guys, keep em' coming. I'll order a 16T and 15T pinion to see how those feel.

Does the 28 amp draw in a hover seem reasonable with my current set up?
I'm concerned about my soldering job on this high volt setup.

BTW, I flew some more again today, the machine does whatever you ask of it without the slightest hint of bogging. Simply awesome!!
