i'm looking for a few ( or even one lol) pics of a fasst rx mounted in a hurricane 550. more specifically the antennas. i read they have to be at a 90 degree angle to each other. does this have to be exact? any way i look at it right now, if i have them at 90 the ends of the antennas either are in the way of a moving part or touching something metal/carbon. please help!

I don't have any pics but I mounted my rx on the bottom plate with a little double sided tape, with the edge of the case flush with the rear edge of the plate. The antennae just do their thing hanging out the back. I put it as far to the rear as I could to help balance those honkin 3200's.
I used the same configuration on a rex 450 xl for over 400 flights and never had a signal loss.

well there's an idea! i have the rx mounted in the same location you mentioned, and almost as far back. so i'd be set just letting them hang? cool. i was toying with the idea of cutting two pieces of antenna tube the exact length of the coaxial part of the antenna tube and running the antenna though the tube, so wire bare wire part is the only bare part, and just mounting them at a 90 angle out the back. the tubing would keep the antenna's from being able to move around and possibly touch metal/carbon. there should not be a problem using tubing on the coaxial section, right?

oh i meant to ask, are you running the FP evo 30 3200's?

Yeah, the FP3200's. Had to throw everything I could towards the back to get balanced.
I do not see why you would have to mess with the antennaes. Now I could be off here. With my granny style perhaps issues do not manifest themselves such as the antennae flapping into the boom struts during high speed reverse or something. You could certainly test if that is a problem on the bench. Just start brushing the antennae against the struts. If it is an issue, which I doubt it will be with this Fasst system, it is unaffected by noise, I would cover the struts, not the antennae.

here's a pic of what i did. i've got a bit of a pet peeve with wires just "hanging" out i guess lol. i just put sections of tubing on the coax part with a clipping of shrink wrap on each end. drilled two tiny holes in the boom supports and fastened each antenna with a small zip tie. plus, this way it stays almost exactly 90 degrees. on the lipo subject, i got my two FP evo30 3200's to cg balance almost exactly in the same spot as 8 cell a123. talk about lucky, i thought that would be an issue.
