Hi all,
Me again.... Battery is plugged in (LOL). next issue.....

My century hawk pro is set up as per finless bobs videos. All is well. Except I cant get the Gyro into hh mode. This is not a 9zwc2 so a lot of info i can find doesnt match. Finless bobs video on the 401 is great but he sets it up on a 7chp which is way different than the 9z Ive got.
What ive got so far:
Gyro plugged into chan 4
gyro sense. lead into chan 5
gyro sensitivity in Tx inhibited
dual rate circuit a set for gyro to 32% for rate a and rate b on switch e
atv and afr on chan 5 at 100% on rate a and b

Gyro just blinks.Tried reversing the channel 5 but still blinks. What am I missing?

So you have a 9zhp, right?
I'm using a 9zap (only difference are the sticks and it takes a plane by default, menu is the same).
Rudder -> 4
Gyro Sense -> 5

Cond -> Gyro -> Mode: Normal (!for all flight conditions!)
Type: 1 or 2 (1 is -100, 2 is 100 or reversed)
Now goto ATV -> Channel: Gyro and just set Rate A & B to your gyro value (vor all flight conditions).

I'm using Type 1 in Idle 1/2/Normal (HH) and Type 2 in Hold (no HH). I think mine was reversed so I set MDL -> Rev -> Channel -> Gyro to Rev
Hope that helps!

Thanks guy, I reset every thing to a new model condition, set up the gyro sense to the way you said, and now when i turn it all on on the bench and turn it I have action on the servo, but the light is still blinking. I reversed the channel but that didnt stop the blinking. I read somewhere in one of the millions of posts ive gone thru about this that the light blinks still because I have to center the gyro. Now I have to figure out how to do that.......
Again, thanks for your help

Me again, just to confirm something.......
With norm, idle1 and idle 2 set to type 1 and hold set to type 2, then unless the radio is in hold when i turn on the rx , i will be in avcs mode, right? i think I have to set up gyro center in rate mode so I would have to be in condition hold to turn on the gyro for it to be in rate mode to center it, Right? and as far as the ATV settings go, they are for setting the pirouette rate anly, and not for changing the avcs or rate settings. am i right or am i way out of the park and have to start reading again?

Hi!
9z (without WC) only has 2 values if you use the "Normal" mode for type in the gyro menu. These two values can be changed with ATV.
About the pirouette rate, this rate can be set via ATV for rudder!!! That's important! The gyro channel is the sense channel, the rudder channel will affect how much pitch your rudder has -> pirouette rate.

What you should try now is use for example value 1 for Normal Mode (flight phase) and value 2 for hold. Than switch on your heli and check which one activates AVCS.

Setting up a 401 is pretty easy if you know which one of these values is for AVCS and Normal (rudder normal mode). I would start with ATV for gyro channel with A and B rate something around 50 (both the same). Everything else works the way Bob explains it in his videos. Just change your rate values for gyro in your ATV menu. Don't forget that the 401 has to be in AVCS when you switch it on... otherwise it will not work!

Thanks again maya, but stil no luck. Type 1 in the gyro menu for normal mode and type 2 for condition hold mode. NO matter what flight condition radio is in when I turn on the RX the light still blinks. Every thing you've said makes sense. I dont think there is anything wrong with the gyro and I cant seem to find anything else in the radio that would nul the changes Ive made as per your instructions. For now I'm going to have to wait a bit cuz Ive been at this for seven hours now trying to get that stupid light to stay lit and Ive ran all of my batteries down to nothing. I'll keep you posted on my progress as soon as I make some. Thanks again for your help.

Check the servo monitor. Does the bar jump between + and - when switching between Normal and Hold? 401 and 9z is real pain... but it should work!

Nope, no jump to opposite side when switching the flight conditions. If that should jump from pos to neg side, or basically to the opp of where it was when mode was switched, at least i have visual of what Im trying to accomplish. is this what your set up does?
Ok, hold the phone, I was doing the switching in the servo meno while servo test was running. Duh. When servo test is shut off and I am looking at current control input and switch in and out hold condition, the bar jumps back and forth over center as the switch is moved

Worldofmaya!!!!!
its not blinking anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Saints preserve us I figured it out. Based on all of your helpfull input I decided that you knew what u were doing and that something else had to be wrong. Its a used gyro (http://www.rcuniverse.com/buynow/keywordclick.cfm?bid_id=5302) for which I have no history. (I'll never shop ebay again). I thought that if you were right and If i did everything you said, the gyro would work, but it still didnt. So, I said to myself, And I knew who it was cuz I recognized my voice, I thought that the gyro wasnt receiving a sensing signal. Since I was mad and had a beer or two or three by now I yanked the sensing wire out of the receiver and went at it with an exacto knife. Low and behold I found half a centimeter of no wire inside the insulation just before the metal contact. I cut a wire and contact off of an old servo i had and twisted it onto the gyro sense lead and plugged the bare contactor into the receiver. Still got a blinking light. After a couple of bad words I still have to apologize to my children for, I reversed channel 5 in the radio. Turned on the receiver and holy crap, I gots me a steady light now. Now Ive just got a little soldering to do and get the contact back into the plastic plug and Im off to the the next hassle, whatever that may be.
thanks for sticking with me today I really appreciate it:clappp

Thanks again for all of your help. Ive got no one around here who knows this stuff. Without your input this heli (http://www.rcuniverse.com/buynow/keywordclick.cfm?bid_id=4726) hobby of mine would have been thrown out before I ever got any airtime. thanks again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/upfiles/smiley/lol.gif

Good to hear that it works now! I think everyone has to make this ebay/second hand experience. I had this too :)
