I'm not having any problems with my engine, far from it but have put about 20 gallons through it and the engine is as sweet as a nut, but I have a carbsmart ready to go on the engine sometime this week and was wondering when do people strip down and rebuild the engine, I have done the crank mod so stripping down the engine is no problem for me, but is it a good idea to have a nice new rebuilt engine for the carbsmart or just leave. The engine is not really left for any length of time without running ( maybe a week at the most ) so cant see it being that gummed up inside, any help would be great.

Thanks

Simon

p.s John does a great vid if anybody is not sure how to strip one down.

I'd go along with that - engine bearings not like electric motor bearings in that they don't usually cause carnage inside when they fail and usually give plenty of warning

Plus, if your piston or piston ring are worn, the engine will just cut out, if it'll start at all. If it cuts out in flight, you can just auto the heli down to the ground.
